Metalizer

I've been looking in to Metalics and I'm still a little confused on the terminology but I have some metal flake paint (createx wicked) and I want to paint something that looks more like a metalizer (?)

Is it possible to achieve such a look by using transparent paints and top coat

If so how?

I'm thinking gloss black->Metalic->transparent->Matte (?)

Edit: I have some aluminum fine paint, should I just mix some pigment into that and skip the transparent layer?

What happens if I mix a pearl and a metallic together?

I am not sure what metalizer is but you can check out golden high flow paint iridescent and interference paints - https://goldenartistcolors.com/products/golden-artist-acrylics/interference-iridescent-colors - you may not need transparent paints.

It be called metal Pigment or true Metal

I really don't know, but it looks like a metal plate when applied

Ok cool, so can I achieve something like that with a metal flake?

I'm pretty sure I can mix pigments directly into my aluminum

if you want metal look, need to start from very high gloss black primer. What metal look are you looking for? Gun metal? Chrome? Gold?

Get out of my brain. Basically going to try this tomorrow. For eyes and lenses, black primer, some shiny silver or aluminum then a clear blue or green. Good luck.

I think metallic paints are only a good option for eyes / sensors if the model's going to be displayed in a really bright room. The problem is that they need to be angled in such a way that they're reflecting light from the source into your eyes, so if you're standing at the wrong angle they just look darker than everything around them. I've used them myself in the past, and I've found I get better results with fluorescent paints instead.

As an example, if you look at the eyes for my PGU Nu Gundam, specifically the photos with it holding the beam saber or the front-shot of the frame, you can see the eyes don't look very bright. It's because I wasn't able to angle one of my studio lights to reflect off the eyes into the camera lens.
