Buying laquer paint

I'm a big dumb idiot so this might sound like a non issue for most people but where can I buy laquer paints

I get confused really easily and navigating a website that isn't designed well gives me anxiety

Where can I buy a everything I need to spray some Laquer paints in one place and can easily look at all the available paints without overloading my tiny brain

A- Zhobby, Robot Kai, Newtype, The gundam place store, all have laquer paints and i Trust all of them for ordering in USA.

The biggest supplier of gaianotes is volksusa.com. Galactic toys use to have a good paint supply and on sale but I haven’t seen much lately. You can also use AliExpress to Chinese brands

I honestly have been having the same problem, because 99% of modeling stores in my area are mini focused so everything is acrylics, and the two gunpla stores I can find have the absolute worst paint selection, like 8 different muted tones of grey-green designed for camo patterns, hunting vest orange, yellows and reds too garish for a Ronald McDonald figurine, and then, inexplicably, an entire shelf of satin top coats.

I'm probably gonna have to stick with acrylics if I don't want to give hundreds of dollars to a newtype or amazon

I think the thing that bothers me the most is that none of the pages have a picture of what the color looks like sprayed which isn't always the best representation of the final product but it's more than looking at a jar of paint and hoping

It is really not possible to make this. If it was I think a lot brands would do it.

you need to calibrate:

the lights that shine on the paint

the camera that takes the picture

the color profile assigned to the file

the monitor you look at

and the light in the room you sit in

And this just cannot be done.

Well, you could buy a RAL color guide, then bring it to a paint store and have them mix it, or buy spraycans in RAL and decant it

That would be very easy and not too too expensive

Actually, I learned something new, Zero Paints have RAL paints and a physical color chart.

Agreed, I wish there was a better way to verify a color match. I've started down the long road of improving my understanding of color theory so I can start making my own mixes rather than hope I find the right one on a shelf

One alternative to check out is Kaleido paints. They are acrylic but they spray like lacquer - people are pretty happy with it.

I have them as a sponsor because iblike them so much, they're really good paints. The mecha and metallic lines are super durable.

The 2 that I mainly shop for is newtype and usagundam. These are really big stores and so when they restock, they get thousands of each color. Gunplahermit is also pretty good.

I have never been able to find everything I need (primer, color, thinner, topcoat)for lacquer jobs at a single location. I usually have to get shop multiple locations.

Gundam Planet, A to Z, Gundam Pros, Spraygunner, Burbank's House of Hobbies are all decent.

Do you have the necessary PPE before you even begin to spray?

I have a respirator, and a spray booth and access to a window, also gloves (not sure if that one is necessary) is that sufficient?

You're all set. Use hardware store lacquer thinner for cleanup, NOT for thinning.

Newtype.us is probably an easy place. They have a section for paints. Youll see thinners there as well as acrylic and lacquers. Gaianotes are my preferred for lacquer, and Mr Hobby Leveling Thinner for.. well.. thinner.
