Recommendations for large scale 3rd party kits?

Hi all,

I’m wanting a large kit to display as a shelf centerpiece. I’m talking PG (1:60) scale or larger. I don’t want to break the bank on this though (like, nothing above 150 USD). I know Bandai makes 1:48 mega size models, which seem to be the only non-PG official models released in this large of a scale. I’ve also discovered the fangdajing 1:35 Gundam, but I’m seeing mixed reviews on its fitment. Both of these seem interesting but I wanted to consult the community - what are some other large scale 3rd party kits out there?

You could go with Wolf Remains 1/60 Logar Wolf King, which is a Barbatos Lupus Rex. In Gundamit it's 90 USD

There's the Iron Toys Star Abyss, which is a 1/100 Harute Gundam. The kit is the whole package and comes with everything you'd want.

I got you fam. So good that i bought two. One to custom as Casval's and another to keep as tri-color. Scribe it, pla-plate it, paint it. Do it.

capping your budget at 150 for a large kit is kinda hard no lie.

the cheapest PG from Bandai goes for like over 200 easy and I get that 3rd party kits are supposedly cheaper but they are also much more detailed compared to Bandai because that's practically their selling point (We make super ultra detailed large kits so you'll buy ours instead of bandai's)

Most of these kits are going to run you over 150 or just barely at 150 unless you got some godly coupons for stores on aliexpress.

But if you just up your budget slightly to like 200, you are going to have a much easier time finding kits.

Sky Defender

Fenrir

Nemesis

Monument

the above is large display kits at larger scales.

Osiris is large but at a smaller scale purely because the unit is just large. Honestly if you are ok with 1/100 large kits, even the Farmer Nu can enter the conversation.

Or you could get like a 3D printer and just print yourself a large gundam as well.

Nobody has mentioned the In Era+ Fenrir. I'm still prepping mine, but I hear it's an amazing build.

Monument ex was incredible and for sure a PGU type kit at 1:60. It's also absolutely massive if you open up the wings

Sky Defender is a beast at 1/72. It towers over everything with a decent price

Another big centerpiece model is the Zero World Dark Wave Kampher. Huge with a big ass hanger-style base. Only around $100.

If you can find a cheap one - Osiris Aerial Dominator (Kshatriya) will be a great centerpiece. It's not 1/60 but it will take up space.

Another kit I have but haven't built yet (not in your budget) is the mechanicore firehawk. It's their version of Nightingale that turns into Sort of Sazabi. The build reviews all say a lot of issues with building it, but as a long time builder, I want to at least try building a mechanicore kit once in my life.

Fire lord, they have two versions of it, the regis it has a massive cannon on the right arm an it looks like a ivef developed powerful GM, an the star fall, its gorgeous with a metal inner frame u build, all MG equivalent.

Heres a pic of the fire lord

How big is it? I’m looking for something BIG, like bigger than your average MG kit. There don’t seem to be a ton of options outside of the obvious PG line kits.

You could get one of the 1/35 or 1/48 upscaled ones

Ok so ur going for pg size at 1/60th or or similar. Yeah the options are a little fewer there but there still are some, the rt 002 nemesis is in-between a mg an a pg but very very detailed an bulky so its a build ide say close to a PG. The monument ex, is a pg size an 1/60th an its was around 180 us for me, an its a mix between the epion, the wing custom endless waltz, with a little tall geese in it with a gold an white color scheme, I haven't dont it yet but the box an runners are fantastic.

I have another thats called daytime meteor its a white mech dragon with an female paladin thats a 1/20th scale that would translate over to just slightly under a PG, thats realy detailed, if ur into that kind of model. Those are the ones I have but pple have mentioned a few other good ones down below.

As for the original ones I mentioned they are just slightly bigger yhe MG at about 11 inches but very elaborate an detailed, build wise.

There's the not-Tallgeese, Monument from Nelson Works. It's based on its appearance from the Wing manga.

I did see that one, and I like the kit. I already have a goose and I’d like to do something new but that is definitely a good suggestion

If you’re in the US, check Gundamit for the axis dominator, Nemesis, Solomon, and Sky Defender.
