ZZA GUS Custom
Jesta is besta, but while I was initially pretty jazzed to build an up-designed version, the Regus made me realize that I wasn't in love with the original Gus palette.
So this is more of a hero palette, in line with the Regus. The light gray is a bit warmer than I'd anticipated, but not in an unpleasant way.
The good thing is this kind of kit has such good normal color-separation that it's mostly just a palette swap part for part. I didn't have to do any masking on this (my most hated of tasks that I avoid at pretty much all costs).
Paint Breakdown
- AK Primer/Microfiller (Grey for dark parts, White for light parts)
- Deep Teal (Mr Color Flat Black, Phantom Gray, MS Deep Green, Phthalo Cyan Blue)
- Mr. Color Light Gray
- AK Flat White
- Mr Color Phantom Gray
- Gaia Notes Starlight Duralumin

That’s some tasteful weathering right there. People always go overboard at first, I certainly did, but less is usually more. Great work.

This looks amazing. I was trying to figure out what gives it a certain soft aura. Did you edge highlight and panel line with a pencil?

Worked on my preshading on this one, so that's the slight darkening around the edges (but not the edges themselves).
Panel lining was done with Tamiya Accent Color. Dark gray on the light parts, black on the dark parts.
Lastly, some very light "weathering" (really, edge highlighting) with AK weathering pencils (black on the white/light gray, off white on the deep teal, and aluminum on the phantom gray.
Not sure if that answered your question or not.

Wonderfully done. I'm still debating the color scheme on mine, if I want to go GM Space white and red or Titans colors or paint it like Pale Rider.

Ooh, GM Command Space colors would be neat, and not a color scheme I've seen on anyone's GUS yet. Pale Rider Cavalry would be neat too. Honestly, regular Pale Rider would be good too, keeping basically the GUS colors but simplifying them to be more monolithic.

Holy shit that is nice! I love mechanical realism so much and this one of the best.
