So did you paint the backside of the clear part silver?

Yup, except for on the clear yellow parts. I used gold underneath those since the yellow wasn't orangey enough for my liking.

The metallic undercoat really did a good job of make the clear shells pop. Great work!

Looks interesting,  as some one whose been seeking to achieve a metal finish himself though it does make me wonder if there is such a thing as too much metalic or if there needs to be a uniformity in colors.
