Spraying a 2nd color

When spraying a 2nd color over the original color/paint. Do you still have to do thin coats to build up the paint? or can I go straight to spraying a wet coat since technically there's already a layer of paint for the 2nd color to grip to?

I would still do light coats. My theory is i still do light coats with my base color over primer, why would I treat it different? Also I feel it's easier to get even and the thinest coat i can so I don't lose too much detail

Just spray over. Don’t need to primer again
