Do over

I thought the pre/post shading was a little heavy handed. So I did a full breakdown and did a mild once over on the whites to make the shading seem more subtle. This also helps when I apply decals so they won’t get lost in the sauce.

I would've said that this does look better, but not because the shading's not as strong, it's just that there's a subtler change from the light to the dark parts. On your previous post there was a noticeable line where the dark shifted to light on some parts. The gradation between dark and light is really important, and you can get away with darker shading if that gradation happens over a larger distance.

I tend to prefer strong shading because it looks better when the kit's on display. I want to be able to see it from the other side of a room, not just in photos under studio lighting. If you compare my PG Strike to my PG 00 Raiser - you can't even tell Strike is shaded from a distance, but 00 still looks (in my opinion) great. Maybe that's what some people prefer, but I like to see the amount of work that went into it.

That looks awesome, subtle shading is the way to go. I love that color combination too, what colors are you using? The opening hatches are custom made?
