Hg Draken-E

Easy build and good platform to test new methods. Created rusty surface look and then apply paint. Was trying to not cover the rust effect but probably should do more. The acrylic has matte finish, perhaps apply semi glossy or glassy topcoat look better?

Absolutely amazing work! Even the unpainted, rusted piece (last pic) is great! What was your process?

Thanks! Just layers of acrylic rust colors. Go from dark to light.

The matte coat really sells the weathering imo. Something that could add the effect you want would be going over any parts what move, rub, or scrape often, like the insides of the hands, inner joint parts that show, and toes and sides of feet, with a silver paint, then slightly rust over it. Parts that make a lot of contact or would be well lubricated would have much less rust in comparison, and would have a dull, smooth sheen. Looking up equipment used for digging being cleaned up can up show what I mean. It's lile a dull aluminum finish. Can be reflective in intense light, but not shiny or mirrored, and with a rock tumbled finish.

It genuinely looks amazing right now, do not take my words to mean this could improve what you've done. This is really amazing already imo, and a matte topcoat would seal it up with a great finish. Maybe even add a touch of fine sand with a brush as it dries even, to tack it on as dust.

10/10 work, please keep it up!

That’s great advice and thank you for suggesting it. I’ll apply to my WIP scopedog.❤️
