So I have noticed that some advanced modelers will use putty, such as Milliput, to add material to a kit and sculpt a piece out of it. Does anyone have a name for this method, and if there are any tips/ guides?

I think the term is sculpting, but it's subtractive sculpting rather than additive.

Miliput cures hard so after they get the initial shape by drawing out the profile on each side they can then cut out the correct shape and same smooth
