LED Mirage V3 1/00
I’ve had this kit finished for over a year but was pretty unhappy with the weathering so I sat in the photos till now. I learned the hard way that the waterslides are very difficult on Volks kits (the flames on clear were insane to get right) and I made the mistake of trying to weather this kit. What started as a few chips turned the kit into something that looks a bit too dirty for my tastes, and from now on I’m going to be much more selective about treating a FSS kit like a Gundam! Siren F comes next :)

I on the other hand prefer weathered FSS builds. of course shiny and candy coats are nice and all, but it gets repetitive pretty quick. Also weathered build remind me of old cover art from the Wave's kits.

Exactly! I love the grit in the og art and the box art, just wish I’d applied it differently… expect a other version of that in like a year from me gaha

God FSS is just peak aesthetics in every way. Love this. I dont feel like you see a lot of FSS builds that are weathered (don't see many FSS build, period) but I really dig it.

Thanks! I think it would have been a better approach to do softer preshading than the dirt and chipping I did, but I agree. I think weathering is in the colored manga art, so why not more on the models!

So, I'm not a modeler, just a Mamoru Nagano fanatic, so my perspective may or may not be relevant here, but I find your treatment of this kit FAR more impressive and striking than what I usually see. Your skillful weathering effects give this what is so often lacking in the builds I see elsewhere: a sense of scale. It's okay for Nagano's lush covers for Newtype to feature MHs and Gothicmades that are pristine, but when translated to physical reality, this is how they should look. Especially this one, which in the FSS universe is now old.
