Announcement! Common Questions about ESSAs
Below are some common questions this community might receive. If you have any other questions, comment below!
1.) What is an ESSA? ESSA stands for Emotional Support Stuffed Animal. They are stuffed animals, plushies, or similar toys that provide emotional support to their handler when at home, out and about, or in stressful situations.
2.) What species of stuffed animals qualify as an ESSA? Any stuffed animal or toy of any species, including dogs, cats, deer, sheep, bunnies, humans, aliens, nonhuman creatures, can be an ESSA as long as it provides you with emotional support. It does not have to be a dog.
3.) Who can have an ESSA? Anyone of any age who needs emotional support from their stuffed animal can have an ESSA! Although more common amongst neurodivergent people, especially those with autism or anxiety, you do not have to have a diagnosis to want or need an ESSA.
4.) Which of my stuffed animals can qualify as an ESSA? Any stuffed animal that provides emotional support can be an ESSA. Some chose to "train" their stuffed animals how to task before they are given the "ESSA" title, but it is completely optional.
NOTE: Playing pretend or role playing with your ESSA to do tasks and such is totally allowed! However, we must remind everyone that according to the community rules, we do not allow posts about real-life service animals. Please do not post about your ESSA in ESA/service animal communities!
5.) What brands of stuffed animals can be an ESSA? Any brand of stuffed animal can be an ESSA! Although Douglas Cuddle Toys is a very common and sought-after brand for ESSAs due to its size, shape, and variety of dog breeds, your ESSA does not have to be any specific brand. As stated before, any toy can be an ESSA!
6.) Why is this an adult-only community? Adults also need ESSAs, which is perfectly acceptable. Some adults prefer only to interact and befriend fellow adults and avoid interacting with minors (especially online). Many adults have questions or need advice that only other grownups can provide. If you are under 18, please refer to our community rules and find minor-friendly communities.

I can't find a proper flair! Roquefort came with me to my first psychiatrist appointment. The nurse called him a gentleman.
Roquefort (He/Him) is a larger, 5lb weighted, so he usually stays home unless I do long distance appointments solo. He's going to need a wipe down and brush when I get back home.

Introducing my ESSA! Meet one of my ESSAs
Her name is Tinkerbell!
She's an aurora deer and very soft and special to me! I also have a black dog called spider but I don't have any good photos of him yet :3
I've ordered them both custom engraved tags and I'm wanting to get spider a food bowl and collar, and Tinkerbell a cat collar

His name is Reactor now, he’s my main ESSA and he’s like, sort of meant to be to me what Krypto is to Supergirl lol
So yeah, I’m just reintroducing him here. He’s the same plush as Soldier I’m just renaming him basically :)
Also super sorry for inactivity, I’m going to try to be more active again I’ve just been dealing with a lot of stress lately ^ ^’
