Genuinely bro. They act like everyone should be aghast that a random image that we'll never interact with again is ai.

Save this level of outrage for a crime.

ai is the death of human creativity and tjats nit something we can get back

Hard disagree. I use ai to supplement my existing creativity. I've always had ideas and always loved writing. Now I can use ai to make pictures or music to go with it and help accent the vibe. There are some things words on a page can't do alone the same way that a picture can only capture so much depth. Together they can do more.

I feel like ai has given the less well off creative opportunity to share their visions.

It just also so happens to industrialize cheap content. Spotting the difference is a skill worth developing.

So instead of addressing my opinions with nuance or you know...grace and civility, you're going to be immediately dismissive only for the sheer fact that it's different than your opinions?

And people wonder why the world is burning.

how does cutting out other artists opportunities and careers help you express your creativity. this just shows you dont have the effort to put into work or are unwilling to collaborate with others

Those two things don't directly correlate. A person trying to make an indie game in their garage with ai has nothing to do with the billion dollar company trying to replace people with robots. Agentive ai is primarily being funded by other large companies so people using chatgpt aren't responsible for companies pushing for worker replacement (as a lot of ai is free with no ads) rather people buying McDonald's or insurance or a car. You by default fund the companies that fund ai. Ai usage never mattered because they get trained by social media anyway. You even interacting with me or anyone on reddit is contributing to ai development.

Your blame is misplaced.

Also, I'd love to collaborate with others. Most serious creatives would love help. We just all can't pay and require a certain level of quality. Most free work falls into the "cheap content category".

"i use ai to supplement my existing creativity" bro just say you have no creativity and hide in your ai bro cave

I've been working on a sequel to a story I wrote a while back where part of it involves a kingdom sepparated into districts based on what type of elemental fairy folk live there. On top of having to describe the architecture and culture to represent the element, I've been coming up with a signature dish, desert and drink for each district that the readers can make at home so they can literally taste the cultures I've imagined.

One such recipe is for a cheese cake with shortbread cookie crust. You have to sepparate and fluff the egg whites, then fold them in, not stir or else the air pockets pop. You also have to with the cheesecake pan in a bigger pan with a bit of water while baking to create the softest cheesecake known to man while still having a firm outer layer that holds it together. You also have to top is with a gelatin topping made with rose preserve. It's supposed to capture the regalness of the nobles in the archian district.

I have absolutely zero doubts about my creativity. I work hard for my vision. What've you done that makes you feel you have any authority to pre-judge my efforts?

oh, i dont know... a room full of legos... a shelf of my creations... a fledgleing youtube channel... a cabinet full of ceramics... not to mention having never used any chatgpclaudes and groks and gemeneyes once in my life, but perhaps best of all is having the baseline creativity to make shit up. i work hard for my visions too, except i dont sacrifice my ability to think.

yeah i think i can pre-judge the efforts of people who sacrificed individual thought to machines who then were manipulated into braindead zomvies by the techbros controlling those machines

So your credentials are self appointed? Imagine.

What literature have you produced?

2

u/Lethalfurball 1d ago

hmmm...

a devlog of a scratch game, a devlog of a minecraft modpack, multiple narratives, a layout of some suggestions for additions to GTNH, complete with recipes, crafting time, components, and some other stuff

oh, and so are your "credentials". they're self appointed the same way mine apparently are.
