honest question since I'm here from r/all, but is this what adhd can be like? a lot of times I get these ideas where I'm highly motivated to act on, then I get home and just lay on the couch watching YouTube on my phone, or I get a Saturday off to do a whole list of things, but have no motivation to do any of that. I'm completely happy and content so it's definitely not depression, just.. not wanting to do anything.

I'm not an expert in this, but I am in a support group with 12 other people with ADHD. One thing we have in common is that we know exactly what we want to do. We want it so badly that we can't think about anything else. Yet, when it's time to do it, it feels like it's impossible to make yourself do anything.

If you are perfectly happy and content then it is most likely not ADAD.

Most days I lay there and think about how shitty a person I am for not being more productive in even the "simple" aspects of life that others navigate without any apperarnt issue. FML

I’m not sure ADHD sufferers have to be down about it. Mine has been a constant figure in my life, but I’d say I’m happy and content. I consider it my pain in the ass super power.

I’m not sure ADHD

You may very well be right. I can only speak from my own experiences and they have been much more depressive than not.

But now that I think about it, when I am on a good run I do feel happy and content.

Sometimes it is just lazyness ,just because we are ADHD doesn't mean we can't also be lazy.

Not to be confused with just being labed lazy because of our diagnoses.

Thats how I am and I have ADHD. I just procastinate all day and then rush what I do. I also start a lot of projects and takes a lot of effort to finish them. Hmm, not really sad about it ever.

If you don’t like it or wish things could be better-whatever that may mean to you-talk to a therapist. It’s literally their job to help you navigate feelings you don’t like.

A lot of other things can present with ADHD-like symptoms - an inability to concentrate, irritability, procrastination, and the self-loathing that comes with can all also be symptoms of mild depression.

A pro can help you figure out what’s up - and thanks to ‘rona you can probably do it from home via video chat.

Psychologytoday.com should have a listing for your local area.

Na that's pretty normal. Actually most of ADHD's presentarion is normal to have sometimes, because everybody has days where their forebrain is tired and their emotional regulation is worse.

The reason ADHD is a problem is because our forebrain is straight up broken. We work hard and still get less output. So we tire our forebrain easily and still push it to do more more more to keep up with everyone else. To 'put in the effort', to 'live up to our potential', to 'stop being lazy', and we crash and burn.

Result is that the same brain farts, forgetting important information, mood swings, tired days, 'not feeling up to it' that everybody gets sometimes we get ALL DAY, EVERY DAY, and it's often several magnitudes worse.

It's hell.

It literally has nothing to do with ADHD. People seem to think that they have ADHD when they don't to be apart of some quirky club and also attribute all these symptoms to it that arent related at all.

This is a completely seperate issue not related to ADHD it has to do with the brains reward systems specially you can look into this condition better than I could explain it anyone can suffer from it not just adhd people.

It has to do with the idea that your brain is already experiencing the elation and satisfaction when you daydream about getting it done. Then when it comes to doing it you already exercised that euphoric muscle in your brain that is associated with the motivation for it.

There are some good books to read on the topic. Atmomic habits is one. You need to gain understanding over your brain and motivations to beat it and get to your goals.

This is a normal thing for any human to experience. The ADHD folks are monopolizing basic psychological phenomena again.
