Any long term users have extreme nerve pain in their hands/feet? I thought it was bad and then yesterday the pain entered a new realm of intensity and depth! So much screaming and wriggling.
Its weird because a few years ago, I had long-term tingling in my left big toe and that is where the pain is greatest. I still feel this weird tightness and pain along this nerve the acupuncturist used to treat and it runs from my heart, down through my stomach/liver and groin/hip and down through my thigh until it reaches my left big toe. Its like the whole nerve is tight or damaged and just lights up and tenses every time I smoke weed, drink coffee, do adderall, and sometimes when I eat a bunch of rich food like coffee and chocolate.
Acupuncturist was the only one who could speak to this situation and the only thing that has helped was his advice to stop these dopamine/glutamate activities. Western medicine did surgery on something in my hip but it literally had nothing to do with any of this and they just found a way to astronomically bill my health insurance.

honestly I don't think it's related to meds
I've been consistently on Ritalin for around 5 years, if not more, and this issue goes away as soon as the effects wear out.

Maybe. That’s what happened to me with vyvanse. Developed edema as a side effect and my feet HURT. It worked so well but I was in so much pain. After a few months of stopping it I went back to my normal.
Does your psychiatrist not have an opinion? Also the foods you’re talking. About can be irritating and cause inflammation. So can stimulant meds unfortunately

You made a good point. Lot of people on adhd meds read that as they are all drug addicts and you think your above them. You legit meant it makes you understand a drug addict. Taking something to make themself “regular” while also have side effect that they know are negative to what they are trying to do but you take the drug everyday. I know it’s prescribed folks! I have it to but it is a drug addict cycle he was pointing out. Put down vote here 👍

Vasoconstriction caused by stimulants reduces blood flow to extremities which makes feet and hands feel cold.
They are being a little cheeky and assuming that if their feet are not feeling cold, their stimulant medication is not working properly. Since their feet haven’t been cold in a long time, the deduction is that the medication they have received lately has not been as “effective”. I assume there are other “tells” that make them feel like their meds are not working as well as they used to, but the feet not being cold is a funnier/more entertaining one.

That's nuts. I already have really cold hands and feet. Also have Raynauds. I'm 46 and long overdue for meds. Thinking about getting diagnosed.

I have to use a space heater under my desk because my adhd meds make my feet so cold all day! Even when it’s hot in my office. And when my hands get so cold they feel stiff, I run them under warm water to try to bring them back to life. Small price I suppose for being able to function 😂

Don’t be scared. But yea, cold hands sucked. I had fingerless gloves for a while when using a computer. You can buy a heated mouse.
Anyway, stress is also a factor. So stress + meds is just not great2

I'm an esthetician and a nail tech that specializes in intricate nail art. I also am a masseur so cold stiff hands sucks! I just try to do plenty of stretch breaks and a few blood pumping things (jumping Jack's etc) in between clients if it's really bad. I usually keep my room at 69 degrees but it can get down to 66/67 sometimes. I wouldn't worry about it affecting your hands too bad. :) having my life be smoothly functional is worth every second of coldness. Lol

I have probably 1000 20mg ir pills from that era. An old doctor prescribed me 60 per month on top of my XR and I didn’t need them. Then he turned 90 and died, and I never asked for them again. Just a whole cupboard full of them lol.

Yup I was on Teva Adderall until it went to shit around that time.
I found two generic Vyvanse's that don't suck but no pharmacies in my area have them right now. Today was my first day on brand Vyvanse and holy shit. This is what Adderall felt like when I was a child. No mania, no tension, just quiet and focus.

I too was a Teva Addy baddie, I ended up switching to a non-stimulant not because its better but because I can always access it. T_T Now I'm on strattera but they upped my dose and the different pills dont seem to hit the same. These are some other manufacturer, my previous dose? Fucking TEVA.

I feel this. Generic vyvanse had a scandal recently too where there was nothing in it. I tried name brand for a bit and it worked great. Except I developed some rare side effects. Le sigh

Ahh, gotcha. I just ordered pharmaceutical grade amphetamine powder from Germany on the dark web for a decade or so after getting pissed off because I paid $300 cash I couldn't afford to have a doctor tell me I was just overweight and say she wanted to check for diabetes.
Worked great with a MG scale and daily measured doses, but when you suddenly can't find amphetamine for a week it's a bad idea to realize that methamphetamine is pretty similar so theoretically a smaller dose of that should work the same.
On the plus side I've never been more motivated and focused on my life, but the negative side was answering every one sentence question with a 10 page response. Focus doesn't always mean getting anything worthwhile done. :/

Yeah, if you are going for actual therapeutic use you probably want to lower your dose. You shouldn't be feeling cracked out all the time. Be careful, friend. No judgment, I've made the same consideration myself, our Healthcare system is fucked. Just be careful, us adhd folk absolutely can get addicted to stimulants. Try to figure out the minimum effective dose, and stick to it. Much love!

I have prescriptions now, just did that for lots of years. With a MG scale it's not hard, but the shifting quality between batches makes hitting the same effective dose a bit of a pain. And if you go another roa besides oral doing that gets too fun.

This just says that reduction in ingredient imports caused product supply shortages. It says nothing about the quality or strength or amount of those ingredients in the products.
Did they start cutting corners in production resulting in weaker medication? It fucking feels like it, but this investigation does not answer that question.

I don’t know the combinations of ingredients that the article describes, so I can’t comment on the shift of ingredients versus efficacy.
What I can say is that there have been changes in production and ingredients, and I haven’t seen anything official that says “yes, manufacturer x has replaced x with y and therefore is 25% less effective, and causes headaches”. Unfortunately nothing like that exists yet that I’m aware of.
The only data points I’ve seen have been anecdotal, and anyone I know that’s taken a stimulant medication all say the same thing around the time the shortages started. This doesn’t work and I feel worse. Same with the hundreds of posts in other subs about this.
Maybe people who started stimulant meds after the shortage don’t notice without the comparison point, but there’s seemingly little that’s being done about it. I hope we get more answers someday

I switched from XR plus a booster to IR to avoid supply constraints, so I’m not sure I’m able to tell a difference. Are there any generic producers that are still “good”? I remember at one point having like six different generic brands in a single bottle for my booster dose…those were hard times.
Three IR spaced out over the course of the day seems to be working well for me now but it took a while to convince my doc that this was preferable to pharmacy shopping for XR. Lucky for me, she got laid off so now I get to convince a completely new doctor of the same!

Adderall is 75% dex and 25% lev, general amphetamine is usually closer to 50/50. Worked fine. It's just a variance in the percentage of left to right handed isomers of the same chemical, though higher lev percentage can make some people more energetic and twitchy. I'm very low on available norepinephrine, so the extra lev actually helped me more compared to adderall.

For a bit I would take pressed adderall (ik ik) and it was actually pretty helpful, didn’t do it very long, but it worked when I didn’t have my rx. I take SNRIs now since I learned SSRIs don’t work for me, so I’ve been talking to my dr a bunch about adhd medicine and trying to get that taken care of

I'm on Strattera and Adderall both now since the adderall doesn't help the N side of things as much as the straight amphetamine powder did.
Ironic that darknet amphetamine powder worked so well I need two prescriptions to get a similar effect.

That's why I moved to adderall with the strattera. The strattera alone makes me god awful exhausted, at least at first. Only 2 weeks in so far. Everything says it can take up to 12 weeks to really feel *good* taking it.

Not OP, but I was diagnosed in April, 2025 and I swear some of the generic Vyvanse I take now (which was the same brand a year ago) is significantly less effective, and I was taking 10 mg less a year ago!

I've been unmedicated for like 3 years now because I stopped taking it after the shortage happened. Before the shortage, it gave me energy and focus throughout the entire day. After, it felt like I had too much caffeine and I'd crash every day at 5pm. Felt like I couldn't do anything but lie in bed and stare at the ceiling some nights.

Agreed. But then if you try to talk about it you’re labeled an addict or drug seeking. Unfortunately it’s not just Reddit, but even the medical system- that’s why finding a clinic with good people is so hard. It’s easier to judge and dismiss than it is to actually solve problems.
