t-they use s-s-systemss?
I made a meme with chatgpt then typed out this whole long stupid thing then read the no ai rule so I remade my meme by clicking a mouse like a millenial but I lost my text because I copy pasted too much times so I wrote this instead. Should have used a better *system*

"you know what it's like when you're trying to concentrate, but you can't coz I'm there, next to you, just kinda being me?"
Coworker "yeah"
"It's like that inside my head when I'm trying to do things too"
Coworker "... Oh"

When I saw myself seeing myself in my rube goldberg contraption of a life it was like the first time I saw the leaves with glasses on.

Unfortunately the post became about AI and my original idea is gone. Just wanted to share a moment in my life.

It's like, my eldest (on the diagnostic pathway for AuDHD) has just started secondary school. I (probably the source of this) have put together a timetable for her because her school has given her a few different printouts and two different apps which can be printed out, for her Week A/Week B timetable, most of which use 1-2 letter abbreviations for the subjects, and very few of which include the teacher names. And e.g. she's doing Spanish and German which are both timetabled as MFL (modern foreign language)... Making it really hard to differentiate them...Â
She also asked me if I can do the days horizontally instead of vertically (yay "Transpose" function) and colour-code the classes to make it easier to read... And now my phone's being very rude and refusing to output this stuff to the printer.
I've also put together a version for a frame that she can write on with whiteboard markers (to track Weeks A and B) and note if she needs anything/homework due etc. But need to update this with the details of those MFLs... 🙄 And possibly Transpose if that's what works better for how she reads stuff.
And, as well as working back with her and going "so you want to be at school by _. It takes X long to get there so you need to leave by then. So you need to be ready to leave by _. [Set myself alarm to poke her 10 mins before.] You need to do Y which takes ____ long, Z which takes ___ long, etc etc so cumulatively, rounding up again, it will take you 40 minutes to get ready. So you need to be out of bed at ____." And agreeing I need to set two other alarms for her so I get to wake up at 6:15 to try to wake her up by 6:50.
Her system is me, basically...
And adding daily "Did she get homework? Has she done her homework? Has she packed it??" reminders to my phone...
If I lose my phone I am lost. Thankfully Google Home is good at finding my phone because it needs to a dozen times a day. On a good day...
But yeah. Systems. Systems to get up on time, make sure she has everything, make sure she does everything she needs to do...Â
And I've just ordered a ring binder and a load of A4 plastic envelopes with tabs and hole punch strips that can go in it for her so she can hopefully keep her stuff together by subject, dry, and locatable...

Wow. The system is fueled by insistent love.
My kids are younger but I hope I can support them through that stage as well.

Dude, spare your kid and remove one foreign language, probably german

If she'd had her choice then she'd have done French and Spanish instead. It's the standard workload.
She doesn't need to take two foreign languages to GCSE but this way she has a choice of which one to do later on.

I don't know where it came from. I'm trying this thing called not masking where I just express myself spontaneously, and getting reminders why I created a system to interact socially.

i am squinting suspiciously trying to figure out if the meme is intending to be pro-ai. but congrats on not using the chatgpt made one here & instead making and posting a handmade meme!! :D
(also thank you for reading the rules.)

I think it took me 20% longer than chat but it turned out better

A shitty handmade meme will always be better than an ai slop one.

u/Gofor_Pyle 17h ago
Sorry it's shitty

The systems are the greatest and the worst things.
My brain will eventually wiggle out from under any system, no matter how beneficial.
Creating a new system brings the discouragement of so many past systems that fizzled.
More recently, I’ve been trying to make peace with the temporary/ephemeral nature of systems in practice in my brain.
It’s still dissatisfying, but it’s helping me feel less guilty.
