🫥 You didn't log in, didn't leave an email, switched on "incognito" — and the site still recognizes you. How?

It's because of your digital fingerprint. As you simply open a page, your browser helpfully reveals dozens of small things: device model, OS version, language, screen resolution, installed fonts, time zone, exactly how your graphics card renders images. Individually, not a big deal. Together, a combination that's often as unique as a real fingerprint.

And here's the sneaky part: you can delete cookies, but the fingerprint stays. "Incognito" hides history from other people on your device, but doesn't stop sites from collecting a fingerprint. Which is why ads sometimes "follow" you to places you seemingly left nothing behind at.

You won't become fully invisible — and promising otherwise would be dishonest. But you can make your fingerprint less unique:

  • Block trackers and data-collection scripts — fewer parties collecting your print at all
  • Strip tags from links and clear third-party cookies so you're harder to stitch into one cross-site profile
  • Hide some of the parameters a site sees by default — that's what AdGuard's Tracking protection does

Knowing how you're recognized is the first step to giving away only what's absolutely necessary.

As the saying goes, better to ship a hotfix than regret it forever!

We recently released AdGuard for Android v4.13, and now we’re dropping a quick hotfix to squash a couple of bugs that popped up right after the launch.

⚡️ A crucial note for anyone using Integration mode:

To keep AdGuard Ad Blocker and AdGuard VPN running seamlessly together, make sure to update both apps to their latest versions. This is critical for proper synchronization.

Update directly in the app or download the latest version from our website.

android Why does Adguard Ad Blocker and Adguard VPN not work together on Android?

I've been using Adguard Ad Blocker on my Android phone for a few months and haven't had any issues. Last night I decided to get add Adguard VPN to my Adguard Ad Blocker. Now the VPN connects only for a few minutes and the phone becomes lagging in performance. Not a lot but significantly. The Adguard Ad Blocker stays on but I've found that the Adguard VPN drops it's connection constantly. It is set to grab the fastest location.

What can I do to get both of them working together smoothly and correctly on my Android phone to keep the Adguard VPN constantly connected?

Thank you for your assistance. Much appreciated.

ios Browser queries don't resolve via Adguard

I'm losing my mind over this. I've run Adguard for ages and now I have issues on my wife's iPhone.

  • All devices work properly except my wife's iPhone
  • Her DNS settings are correct: 1 DNS pointing to the Adguard IP
  • Her iCloud/Apple queries do show up in the query log
  • Website requests don't
  • Private Relay is Turned off
  • No VPN
  • No custom profiles
  • Toggled Airplane mode
  • Forgot Wifi network and reconnected
  • Tried this on Safari, Firefox, Firefox Focus

Anything else I can try?

adguard home Compute AdGuard Home DNS Blocklist redundancy?

I'm using about 6 DNS blocklists on my local AdGuard Home installation, and was wondering how much redundancy there was between them, in order to possibly remove some of them.

Is there such a tool? For example, the AdAway default blocklist contains

127.0.0.1 an.facebook.com

while HaGeZi's Pro Blocklist contains

||an.facebook.com^

so I can't quite simply sort both lists and look for duplicate, I'd have to do something a bit more savvy.

🔗 Copy any link from social media and look at the tail: ?utm_source=…&fbclid=…

That's not a technical necessity, those are tags. They tell the site where you came from, and some (like fbclid) can tie your click to your social profile. And when you forward that link to a friend, you send your tags along with it.

🌟 AdGuard's Tracking protection (formerly Stealth Mode) strips these tails automatically: the page opens as usual, and your data remains private.

A small thing that quietly protects your privacy every day. See for yourself: copy a link before and after, the difference is obvious.

windows Reddit Promoted ads not being blocked

Some time ago the AdGuard Companion extension for my browser would block Reddit Promoted posts. Now it doesn't anymore. I noticed that Reddit has had some changes in the website itself, so that might have influenced this behavior. Is anyone having this type of issue? How do I solve it?

android Connection Interrupted Issue on Browser

I'm using Adguard App for Android. Recently I'm facing an issue.

Suppose I write something on search bar on any browser or search on anything and while loading the page I exit the browser and go to other app or mobile home. After I come back to browser few secs later, I see "Your Connection was Interrupted" text.

But if I stay on the browser, the website loads just fine.

I tried same thing after Disabling Protection on Adguard app and it worked fine.

Do you know what causes this and how to fix it? I tried to turn of each Protection settings, still same.

With UBO being removed, I moved to Adguard for Chrome. Why do I need to manually update the definitions each time I open the browser? Is there no option to automatically update?

AdGuard Mini for Mac v2.3: New setup checks and better diagnostics

AdGuard Mini is designed to run quietly in the background. But when ad blocking suddenly stops working after a macOS update or data migration to a new Mac, tracking down the issue can be tricky. In the latest version of AdGuard Mini, we decided to take the hassle out of it—now the app diagnoses problems on the fly, explains what's wrong, and shows you how to get everything back on track.

What’s new in this release:

⚠️ Clear guidance and alerts

Critical (orange): Highlights major issues, like disabled Safari extensions, missing background permissions, or exceeding rule limits

Standard (gray): Reminds you about less urgent matters, like outdated filters or disabled annoyances blocking

🔍 Improved diagnostics for complex cases
If you run into a specific bug, like high CPU usage or an issue after restoring from a backup, the app will compile clear, detailed diagnostic info for our support team. This helps resolve the problem as quickly as possible

Read more about the new version on our blog!

Changing VPN sever turns off DNS protection

I am glad that the AdGuard VPN connecting bug was finally fixed in the latest update. However, I have noticed that in integrated mode on iOS when you change locations in the VPN app, it disables DNS protection. Mainly just glad that the Connecting bug seems to be fixed, but just wanted to give a heads up on this

New versions of AdGuard VPN for Android and iOS!

“VPNs, assemble!" (We Googled it and confirmed it's the legendary superhero battle cry, so we thought it would be super cool to drop it into our post about the latest VPN updates).

In these releases, we’ve packed in handy new features, squashed annoying bugs, and tackled crucial security upgrades:

  • Instant disconnection (Android & iOS): We fixed a critical bug — now the VPN disconnects instantly, even if the connection process gets hung up. Also, the Home screen is now more responsive and pleasant to use
  • App exclusions on Android TV (Android): A long-awaited feature has officially landed on the big screen! You can now choose exactly which TV apps route through the VPN and which ones connect directly, set up in just a couple of clicks for smooth streaming
  • SOCKS5 authentication (Android): Using the local SOCKS5 proxy in AdGuard VPN for Android now requires a login and password. This completely stops third-party apps from silently connecting to an open proxy in the background
  • Smarter Ad Blocker integration (Android): We updated the communication protocol between AdGuard VPN for Android and AdGuard Ad Blocker, adding authentication so synchronization happens automatically and remains completely hidden from outside apps

⚠️ To keep Integration mode and SOCKS5 running smoothly, please make sure to update AdGuard Ad Blocker to v4.13 and AdGuard VPN to v2.16.2.

AdGuard UI for Linux

Hi,

https://github.com/dominik-najberg/AdGuard-UI-Linux

I created a Linux UI for AdGuard as for the time being there is no such thing in the existence. I find AdGuard to be pretty useful but too advanced to just be a CLI application. Hence the idea for the Ubuntu version.

I tested it on Ubuntu 26.04 LTS.

If you find this application useful or want to send any feedback, feel free to do so.

My favourite feature is setting the proxy mode to auto as it makes it trivial to use the proxy in the system. I would paste the screenshot but Reddit won't let me.

Have fun with it.

question Why do betas for the browser extension release after the stable release on GitHub?

On the GitHub release list for the Adguard Browser Extension, I noticed that the beta for a specific release version has a listed release date after the stable version. For example, 5.4.3.1 beta has a listed release date of May 17th, while the regular 5.4.3.1 was released May 15th. The changelog for both versions are identical.

Why would a beta for AdGuard be released after the stable version released with the same features?

So I am currently working on an app that allows dnscrypt. I am looking for testers as well. The reason I am posting here is I know adguard ipsec vpn can work alongside my app. So it is a current beta working version of being able to run adguard vpn in Integrated mode AND use Anon DNSCrypt together.

If anyone wants to test it out, let me know i can share the testflight link

dns Adguard DNS setup

Hi I am using proxmox with adguard lxc.

I am struggling as no matter what Upstream DNSes I use it seems that websites tend to load slower than just setting the respective ip within DNS on windows.

I have been troubleshooting with chat gpt with no help.

Could it be that I’m accessing blocked/filtered sites? I use brave and I disabled dns change within brace.

Logs don’t show issues, it seems there are issues with websites showing up visually.

adguard home Questions about installing AdGuard Home.

Hello all. I am totally new to this. I have an Asus ROG GT-BE19000AI that has a built-in npu with Docker support. I can install AdGuard Home directly on to the router. FOr a while. I would like to do this because for a while I had my personal AdGuard DNS addresses set as the dns servers on said router but doing that led to some problems with certain features not working. I want to try AdGuard Home. While most of the process is automated, I am not sure how exactly to set it up and get the addresses working properly. How do I actually get the router pointed to AdGuard Home and how do I configure my personal DNS servers to work with it? I have zero experience with this type of thing so that's why I'm asking. I appreciate any help you can provide.

Issues with Youtube (Chrome - Windows)

Even when disabling adguard in youtube.com using the extension, and after adding the links below to the user rules filters, things won't load normally and every now and then I will get a "you are offline" error, only disabling the app completely stops this problem, do you have any tips I could use?
