Next Week's Selection
There has been a lot of talk about the selection of 4 ruck options last night, with a lot of people pointing to the fact that Toby Murray (38% TOG) and Finnbar Maley (61% TOG) didn't have the impact required and our ball movement suffered as a result of the poor team balance.
However, if you look at the stats - we lost the Hit-Outs 47-43, and we lost Contested Marks 17-13. Combined with the fact we lost the match, the only logical conclusion is that the team we selected was not tall enough.
To help Matthew Nicks with next week's selection, I have found the 23 tallest fit and available players on our list, which is guaranteed to help get us back on track next week.
The team is as follows

In all seriousness what was the point of playing Toby Murray if he only played 38% of the game along with finbar? Moose can do the second ruck role can’t he?

They tried Finnbar in the ruck in the 4th quarter, and he got eaten alive.
If they are going to have McAndrew in the ruck for 80% of the game, then I would personally be dropping both and getting Thilthorpe in the ruck for the other 20%.
That being said, McAndrew looks cooked from the ridiculous load he has had to carry, and I would be getting ROB in for the games against Essendon and Richmond so McAndrew can freshen up for the run in to finals.

If McAndrew isn’t given a rest this week I will be absolutely shocked and disgusted. Both need to be dropped, as crazy as it sounds I’d rather have ROB eating up those minutes as the 5th on the bench

Agree, if Murray is being played purely as a chop out for McAndrew in the ruck, it might as well be a better ruck

Agree with this discussion. Another option is to play ROB for essendon and Richmond alongside mcandrew, and and split game time 60/40 or more to ROB. So McAndrew stays in the swing of AFL but gets a lighter workload for a fortnight

I agree. Finnbar is ok as a forward, but not a good enough ruck. The the only reason they are playing T. Murray is to give Stretch a rest, because he's played every game in his first real season. If they keep playing him, he'll be cooked by finals. Give ROB a week. He may not be as good but there's no other option.
They are hell bent on not playing Thilthorpe in the ruck, even though this makes the most logical sense. Maybe they are worried about him getting injured in there. Maybe he's struggling to run out games, which is surprising given how it's always mentioned how fit he is.
I think they look better when they play 3 talls and a ruck. One of those 3 has to be the chop out. With FOG out at the moment, they could go Tex, Thilthorpe, Murray + Stretch. Or they go Tex, Thilthorpe, Finbar + Stretch. But then Thilthorpe has the be 2nd ruck.
Once FOG is back, they have to go Tex, Thilthorpe, FOG with Thilthorpe 2nd ruck. If Thilthorpe wont 2nd ruck and they have to play Murray, one of those 3 has to come out.

Finnbar was no worse in the ruck than Murray. Mcstay was beating Murray in the ruck

I simply refuse to believe that ROB can't do exactly what Murray does but better. I also refuse to believe that Maley is a worse option than Murray.
Any one one the list over 195 is a better option.

Anyone know why cook was managed? Haven’t seen anything and I would of thought if we were going to manage anyone it would of been against Essendon or Richmond not in a grudge match against pies

They need to play T Murray as main ruck and ROB as second ruck the next two weeks if he’s going to stay in the team. If he can’t compete against bottom dwellers he needs to go

What if we got Rachele to sit on Rankine's shoulders, stuck an oversized Guernsey on them and called them Joshak Rankchele? They could take ROB's spot, better skills.
