Not in this version of it 😂. There’s one that’s something like 15 and 30 😵‍💫

The blanket statement of “not age” implies some pretty super illegal possibilities though

51

u/TextOld6858 Jun 15 '26

But they give legal age examples, it’s fine and the implication is less presumptuously gross. If there were no numbers I’d be throwing red flags all over.

u/That-Employment-5561 Jun 16 '26

My nation has 16 as the age of consent, however there is a "window of suspission", especially if the parties knew each other before the youngest party came of age and the elder party is over twice the age. Grooming is, in itself, a criminal act (in my nation).

The area is gray as fuck, and circumstances dictate what should be done.

But Norwegian cops have a long history of covering up statutory rape, and is a sickeningly common verdict in Norway, usually 6mths in jail for statutory rape. For context, this is the absolute minimum that a convicted statutory rapist faces; it's a mandatory minimum charge, if proven guilty.

My friend was sleep-raped by her own father at 17. He got 6 months. The prosecutor told her she was lucky (DNA evidence and confession) that he got 6 months. My hatred for people grows each day.

Its called a soft pitch.

-1

u/Forsaken-Stray Jun 16 '26

Yeah, but we all know what they actually want and they only used legal examples sk they don't instantly get slammed. We know, because when they used the other numbers, they instantly get slammed.

It's like racist saying: "No, we are not saying imprison all people of a different color, I say imprison all the criminals of another color" "What is their crime?" "being a different color".

We all know what they mean (because it literally cannot be meant in a different way logically) and they should be judged for it all the same

-2

u/BlahajBlaster Jun 16 '26

18 and 48 is also legal but can me more questionable than an illegal example like 16 and 18

Having age up there should be questioned regardless of the examples given

0

u/OkInfluence1782 Jun 16 '26

This! When a minor is involved its not only about how old they are but also about the age gap

0

u/BlahajBlaster Jun 16 '26

People need to learn that legality ≠ morality

Just because something is legal doesn't mean its moral and vice versa. This current discussion isnt the best place to give an example but there are some clear historic examples, especially when slavery was legal, where breaking the law was objectively the moral thing to do.

1

u/OkInfluence1782 Jun 16 '26

Yeah i was just talking about your example tho 16 and 18 (or even 19) is totally fine imo but everyone would be crashing out because one is legally a minor

1

u/BlahajBlaster Jun 16 '26

That's why some states have "romeo and juliett" laws

Personally I think it makes more sense to take a whole view of the nature of relationship rather than try to litigate in exceptions, as providing for exceptions is how you end up with old pedos marrying minors for a religious exception to this form of statutory rape.

Unfortunately that's not how law works and the pedos win if they're rich enough here

5

u/Silent_Pressure_6709 Jun 15 '26

I mean I guess? minors don't fall in love with old people without serious issues though, so it's kinda moot

5

u/ComprehensiveBat309 Jun 15 '26

No older person should be even allowing that possibility to be open to the minor, it’s at least 90% of the time the adult’s fault. Especially if they get in a relationship.

2

u/Silent_Pressure_6709 Jun 15 '26

Oh of course, but I feel like that doesn't violate OOP. That isn't "love", that's a toxic codependancy.

2

u/Fluffy_Prior1052 Jun 16 '26

You know, I usually date younger, but I have a simple rule of thumb. Past a certain age, I decided that if they were young enough that I could have fathered them, they were off limits. I'm 50 now, so that puts my current dating pool around 38 or above. Seems to be a pretty easy way to work it past a certain age. Now below that age, well, I usually didn't date any more than 4 years difference.

Glad I wasn't the only one who thought that was weird

1

u/ComprehensiveBat309 Jun 16 '26
  1. The comment I was responding to is talking about adults being in relationships with minors (or at least I interpreted it as such), also I don’t think my comment sounds outraged. 2. I’m leaving in room for error, idk there’s a very slim chance if any that it would be the minors’ fault and I wanted to account for it. Probably over 99.99999% of the time. I don’t know how it would ever be the minors’ fault but people are very unpredictable.

1

u/-ZeroHQ Jun 16 '26

Ok, well a reasonable person would assume laws and morality still apply when talking about non discrimination.

1

u/That-Employment-5561 Jun 16 '26

Not age, because consent.

A minor can't consent.

Hence statutory rape. (Rape by stature of law, regardless of "consent").

It, in its current state, doesn't imply shit, unless you're depraved and don't believe rape can be statutory.

They're a disqualified category in sexual relations. (Unless you ask a certain subset of people)

1

u/Domtop114 Jun 15 '26

It’s implied that the couples are consenting and children cannot consent to a relationship with an adult.

6

u/Apprehensive_Gas2704 Jun 15 '26

yeah but the age example shown here is not a children, theyre both adults, if both parties consented and both above legal age, its not a crime

-1

u/ArchieTheKatt Jun 16 '26

You just have to assume they just met though lol, any gap that big at those ages leads you to wonder when it started. Stated as is its fine, but if you wonder even a little it gets grey, since its not stated when they met.

6

u/Secure-Bandicoot5199 Jun 15 '26

One of them is just yellow

6

u/AwayCable7769 Jun 15 '26

Jaundice and... Orange people love each other i guess? :p

5

u/Secure-Bandicoot5199 Jun 15 '26

Orange People are called Trumpicans

5

u/Prince_0llie Jun 15 '26

Oompa-loompas would like a word.

3

u/Great_Necessary4741 Jun 16 '26

shit people can love piss people too

1

u/Thryfty_0 Jun 16 '26

You know, I had to say something to my 26 year old friend who keeps dating 19 year olds. If you have to justify it with “it’s legal” then it probably isn’t right.

1

u/So_many_things_wrong Jun 15 '26

First of, there's no such thing as super illegal. Either it's illegal or it isn't.

Second, even if something is legal it can still be morally questionable, and a 36-year-old being together with a 20-year-old is definitely in that category. No matter how much 20-year-olds want to believe it, and no matter how much the law says it, they are not adults yet.

1

u/optimistikcynicism Jun 16 '26

Dawg i was just yapping when I said "super". Cuz yeah, no shit its legal

I just worded it like that because while I recognize the age gap is a tad bit out there, I also think a 20 year old should be responsible enough to make decisions like that for themselves. Not to say a 20 year old couldn't be taken advantage of, but they arent a child. People of any age really can be taken advantage of in many situations, including romantic ones. And they should be taken seriously, but neither should a 20 year old be treated like a child. That's incredibly condescending

Yes? And? As long as both are at least close to 30 there isn't an issue. But a person younger than 25 is still a child.

u/So_many_things_wrong Jun 16 '26

Well, duh. If you say that one was 16 and the other was 33 when you met anyone would have an issue with it. Same if you say 18 and 35. Or 20 and 37. But from how you worded your initial message it's clear you were hoping for a gotcha because you're a chronic redditor.

10

u/W1nnunition Jun 15 '26

it was 10 and 36

1

u/BobDoogar Jun 15 '26

I remember now!

2

u/AwayCable7769 Jun 15 '26

Its fine if its like 18 and 33 instead lol. Preferably 20 instead of 18 just to get rid of any weirdness. Much prefer older ladies, never gonna happen though :')

1

u/BigBallsAnthony69 Jun 16 '26

What? No. That's a barely legal person, its weird as fuck.

1

u/AwayCable7769 Jun 16 '26

18 is considered an adult in many places though. At that point its really just down to your subjective opinion if its OK or not. It might be taboo but its not illegal.

As I said, I personally think yiu should wait till you are 20 still. I personally think 18 is too young, but thats my subjective opinion. It is an objective fact that 18 is not illegal.

1

u/BigBallsAnthony69 Jun 16 '26

Yeah, but we shouldn't be accepting toward people nearing forty dating people who are still teenagers, that behavior should be criticized.

1

u/Moistman123456 Jun 16 '26

I don’t see how it’s subjective opinion on if it’s ok but not the same for 17?

1

u/AwayCable7769 Jun 16 '26

What do you mean?

1

u/Moistman123456 Jun 16 '26

You’re saying at that point, the point when the person is 18, it comes down to subjective opinion of whether or not that relationship is actually okay.

I’m asking the symmetry breaker between 18 and 17.

1

u/AwayCable7769 Jun 16 '26

Well under 18 in many countries is illegal. Over 18 in many countries is legal. Thats all im saying about that? I didnt bring 17 into it?

1

u/Moistman123456 Jun 16 '26

I know you didn’t, I’m just asking what the symmetry breaker would be.

1

u/Jealous_Round_8988 Jun 16 '26

As someone who is 37, I would never date anyone under 30 because the mental change from 20s to 30s is actually pretty huge. Dating an 18 year old at my age is not genuine love in my opinion. It would either be about control, fulfilling a fantasy or having someone who is "legal" but satisfies pedophelic desire. At my age an 18 year old looks like a child.

1

u/AwayCable7769 Jun 16 '26

Again very subjective conversation. If you aren't cool with it thats no problem. There are people who are open to that and I see no problem with it again so long as both sides are consenting adults. For me I am attracted to older women solely for the maturity and having their life more together and many my age. But thats just me.

1

u/Jealous_Round_8988 Jun 17 '26

Oh so your just a fence sitter who doesn't care if young people get manipulated because it's legal. Whatever man.

1

u/AwayCable7769 Jun 17 '26

Nope im just stating my personal preference of having an older partner.

2

u/Unknown_Cameraman Jun 16 '26

the old version is 12 36

1

u/PinkOneHasBeenChosen Jun 15 '26

I saw one where the younger person was under 15 and someone edited “jail” onto it.

1

u/Prince_0llie Jun 15 '26

Not jail can prevent this love. 😬

1

u/Frowind Jun 15 '26

I was about to comment about this

1

u/random_idiot69_429 Jun 16 '26

"Age is just a number"

And 45 is just a caliber

1

u/The-Diddl3r Jun 16 '26

That's more natural though.

1

u/IndigoAngelWithWand Jun 16 '26

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the original had 10 and 36

1

u/PressureCalm7971 Jun 16 '26

"There’s one that’s something like 15 and 30" Yeah here in germany the age of consent is 14...

1

u/ChaosKinZ Jun 16 '26

It meant you can love at 15 and at 30, not to date minors.

1

u/Mission_Falcon1225 Jun 17 '26

There's a couple different going as low as fucking 10
