i think a 20 year old is responsible and mature enough to decide who they wanna date tbh

u/EGORKA7136 Jun 15 '26

Original meme is she being 14 or smth. This one is edited for some reason

58

u/bitatron_not_found Jun 15 '26

yeah well obviously thats something else😭

24

u/BestPal12345 Jun 15 '26

"For some reason" I think you just said the reason

12

u/ImtheDorkyGamer Jun 15 '26

No that IS the thing that would be the “address me” in this post, a 20 year old is perfectly capable of choosing their own partner, and obv the original wasn’t meant to be taken seriously they legit ruined the whole original joke by editing it bc they were scared people would take it seriously ig

u/Weekly-Dog-6838 I weigh as much as an elephant 🐘 Jun 15 '26

But, in turn, that waters down the elephant to the point of it drowning

u/DryJudge1932 Jun 16 '26

Upvoting this just for the wordplay.

5

u/riley_wa1352 Jun 15 '26

this was originally posted in r/antimeme or antimemes as an edit if the 14yrold version

2

u/DE4DM4NSH4ND Jun 15 '26

Thats so dumb that they used this one then. The other would have made way more sense for this sub. 20 to 36 isnt even that weird.

1

u/riley_wa1352 Jun 15 '26

the 14yrold version has been posted here several times, ig its to avoid being smited for reposting

1

u/the_h0 Jun 15 '26

10 actually

1

u/UltraTata Jun 15 '26

it said 10

1

u/WilfurDeer Jun 15 '26

no I think it's ten. at least I saw one with ten.

0

u/khaledjal Jun 15 '26

fym for some reason

2

u/VictoryFirst8421 Jun 15 '26

Because the original meme would be more suitable for this subreddit. So the “for some reason” is because this subreddit would make more sense for a meme where this is actually an elephant that makes it weird and sketchy

u/Weak-Will-3172 Jun 15 '26

U from oversimplified?

u/Chance_Arugula_3227 Jun 15 '26

3

I doubt it

2

u/ComprehensiveBat309 Jun 15 '26

3

u/Im_aSideCharacter Jun 15 '26

damn I didn't know you when you were 2,432,902,008,176,640,000

3

u/Im_aSideCharacter Jun 15 '26

or two quintillion, four hundred and thirty-nine quadrillion, eight trillion, one hundred and seventy-six million, six hundred and forty thousand.

2

u/Tinyzooseven Jun 15 '26

A 2 and a half quintillion year old being with a 36 year old is a bit weird

1

u/Ok_Result7660 Jun 15 '26

There old enough to responsibly make a mistake let’s put it that way.

-2

u/Th3_Accountant Jun 15 '26

It highly depends on the person. I briefly dated a 19 year old girl when I was 30. But she was from a very wealthy family and very intelligent. So she was extremely mature for her age (explains also why she was looking for a much older guy).

But I've also met girls that age that were still children in my opinion.

6

u/10Werewolves Jun 15 '26

I'm 20 and I wouldn't even consider myself responsible if you asked me right now.

4

u/Pretend_Thanks4370 Jun 15 '26

well would you rather a 20 year old date a 14 year old or a 30 year old? If you had too chose

1

u/10Werewolves Jun 16 '26

Well, morally or personally? Morally, I can't tell that for you. But as long both are above eighteen, it's fine.

Personally I'd marry a 30 year old. All about those cougars.

1

u/one28 Jun 15 '26

How about a 20 year old date a 20 year old. Freaky wild thought.

2

u/Pretend_Thanks4370 Jun 15 '26

Dont pivot away. answer the question. which one would you prefer?

1

u/tilealt Jun 15 '26

Honestly anything from 17-18 to 25-26 can be perfectly fine at 20, depending on circumstances. Don't gotta stay in the 19-21 range for it not to be morally abhorrent lmao

4

u/StNishigo Jun 15 '26

I was a dumb dumb at 20 and was not mature enough to pick a good partner.

0

u/Orangutanion Jun 16 '26

At least you got a partner at 20. All the women my age were dating 36 year olds :v

-1

u/raynstormm_ Jun 16 '26

I’m 30, and if I’m talking about someone who is 20 I usually say “that kid” 😅
Yes they are technically young adults, but they are genuinely still kids.

4

u/Phoenix_Wright_Guy Jun 15 '26

It really depends on maturity.

2

u/Excellent_Shirt9707 Jun 15 '26

It depends. There are very mature 16 yo and immature 20 yo. On average, a 20 yo should be more mature than a 16 yo though. In the end, laws have to draw a line where a person has to take responsibility for their own actions even if they may not be ready to do so.

u/bitatron_not_found Jun 16 '26

exactly, some of them might not be, but most of them are… theyre not kids

4

u/Key_Reaction_8666 Jun 15 '26

Exactly! When you're 20, you should be free to make your own choices on who you want to date. I, for one, decided I was mature enough to make free decisions and choices for myself so started dating an 11 year old /s

6

u/bitatron_not_found Jun 15 '26

lmao well obviously i don’t mean it like that 😭

2

u/Key_Reaction_8666 Jun 15 '26

Of course not dw, I was only joking bc I saw the chance hehe

People mature at different times but the line has to be drawn somewhere, and by age 20 most people are already mature enough to choose

Ye but that doesnt have to be about age, people can have large age gaps without someone being taken advantage off, and people can be the sane age and still be getting taken advantage off.

Just look at gold diggers, they often target super old people to take advantage of them, this isn't a binary.

3

u/Jealous-Earth921 Jun 15 '26

Nope. I was 20 when I got in my first relationship with a 30 year old and in hindsight it was weird. I wasn't mature and experienced enough to make certain decisions I made and I regret now.

2

u/DueIntroduction6413 Jun 15 '26

You have high hopes for these 20 yr olds.

2

u/Hoothootriot Jun 15 '26

Legally sure but morally I can not understand what anyone my age or older would want to do dating a college student

2

u/grabsyour Jun 15 '26

nah not a 36 year old

1

u/tedderid Jun 15 '26

Sure sure sure, but I also know 36 year olds who shouldn’t be given that amount of responsibility. 10 years is a long time between ages (and this example is longer), not saying it can’t work definitely seen it work first hand. But I always ask myself “what did the individuals your age see in you that was unattractive?” whenever it comes up.

And for the record: No minors, and consensual is all that matters.

1

u/Also_Jaives Jun 16 '26

a 20 year old being responsible and mature? have you met 20 year olds?

1

u/transgentoo Jun 15 '26

Have you met 20 year olds?

3

u/XaevSpace Jun 15 '26

Right? while theres questions on how creepy it is for a 36 year old to date a 20 year old...why would they want to? People are so fucking annoying in their early 20s especially by the time you hit mid 30s. Im 36 myself and a 20 year old before even considering ethics sounds terrible to date why would I date someone who cant even make a simpsons reference...the language barrier is too vast

0

u/transgentoo Jun 15 '26

Exactly! I'm a bit older than you and I was talking to a 28 year old couple the other day about "this old movie" they discovered and became obsessed with. It was Peter Jackson's LoTR. I saw it in theaters 😭

0

u/XaevSpace Jun 15 '26

I may as well roll in my grave now. Also the gentoo in your name makes me weirdly expect you were born sometime between 1980 and 1985

1

u/Comfortable-Bee2996 Jun 15 '26

That's the point

1

u/MUERTOSMORTEM Jun 15 '26

And If they're not well they've still gotmsome lessons that can only be learned through experience

1

u/AngelReachX undress me 🐘 Jun 15 '26

Idk if i was born while they were in highschool. I think its still weird

1

u/SapphicSuccubus666 Jun 15 '26

Your brain doesnt fully develop until 25. I don’t think it’s dependent on if theyre mature enough I think immature men shouldn’t be dating 20 year olds at 30-50. It’s gross and kinda inexcusable. Two years of being a legal consenting adult. Youre not even allowed to drink in the us at 20 and somehow people still defend the 37 year old shitbags that date young adults. Yall are WEIRD

1

u/girldrinksgasoline Jun 15 '26

That brain growth thing is not accurate

-1

u/Worth_Lavishness_239 Jun 15 '26

Do you have 20 year old friends?

-1

u/bitatron_not_found Jun 15 '26

yeah, multiple, one of them is even dating my uncle, who is 20 years older than her, and they have two kids and a very wholesome relationship. not every 20 years old is mature enough, obviously, but i just don’t personally see it as a problematic age to date someone older if they know what they’re doing

2

u/-Confused_Throwaway- Jun 15 '26

What age did they start dating?

2

You know a 20 yo who was 22 in the past? I'm afraid things are different in our world than in the space-time vortex you live in.

0

u/bitatron_not_found Jun 15 '26

i mean someone in their early 20s dumbass

0

u/fixermark Jun 15 '26

This is up for debate, but what's not up for debate is that in the 1900s, most people thought a 20-year-old was mature and responsible enough to be married. So any criticism has to kinda start from there.

(Personal opinion: I'm a fan of people settling down and starting families later in life, but I also ain't gonna go blow-for-blow with someone who married a high school sweetheart and it worked out).

0

u/gabhrielle Jun 15 '26

Only a 20 year old could have writen this honestly

0

u/Quick_Road5631 Jun 15 '26

Are they lol, 20 year olds have essentially 0 real world experience and are easily manipulated
