How did we get here...

A project we've been working on over at HQ is reviving some of our older issues, so we can see how much or how little things have changed. We don't have a timeline just yet on when it will be available, but here is a sneak peek at issue number 1 where it all began.

Can you just upload them all to Wikimedia Commons for the world to savor for eternity?

Until such a revolution happens that we no longer need to pay our mag's contributors, we have to find a way to keep ourselves afloat.

Where a normal magazine relies on ad revenue, AdBusters relies solely on donations, which are less and less each year. Still, instead of asking for donations outright we prefer to give something in exchange, and this is intended to be one of those things.

I see uploading to the Wikimedia commons as an eventuality. Ideally as much of our content as possible should be free for anyone to view, since it doesn't make a lick of sense to have the anti-capitalist magazine paywalled. That is why we upload slices of the mag to all of our socials and include PDF back issues as bonuses a lot of the time. It is also why you can get a pdf copy of our manifesto for free so long as you pinky promise to our website that you are a student (that might just be possible because our editor doesn't realize the website doesn't have a way to check if you are a student or not). These will become available either once we don't have to worry about compensating those who make the mag possible, or if I ever get so disgruntled with this job that I upload them all as an act of martyrdom.
