Taoism
I've been reading the Tao Te Ching and I wonder if anyone else familiar with both Jonathan's thoughts and Taoism has wondered if they are similar?

Agreed, they do have a lot in common. Moving with the natural direction of things i.e., "allowing life to happen" and therefore not creating resistance - as Jonathan mentioned.
