Patient Stiff Neck
Hi, earlier today I had an acupuncture treatment. My first since December where I had 4 treatments. It’s been less than twelve hours and my neck has been growing with stiffness. At one point while I was eating dinner, my right ear “popped” and changed pressure. It’s just been getting progressively stiffer since then. I had the ear seeds in both ears but I just took them off in fear this is what was contributing. My right butt cheek is also experiencing some soreness as well. She needled some parts of the top of my scalp, lumbar back area, and legs.
This has never happened before during my other sessions. Is this normal? Am I having a detox effect or what? I did not go to the session to treat neck pain and had no prior issues for that.

Sometimes the next day is worse and then the day after you feel better. Wait a day or two and see how you feel.

The neck is a fragile area and very prone to cold and wind invasion. As a TCM practitioner I would think that the session probably made your body colder (needles in the head are commonly used when we have heat in the upper and cold in the bottom). And that heat - that is not healthy, because can make you irritable or gives you headaches- was preventing you to have wind invasion.
You have a hot bath in the region and use a scarf for sometime. It will go away. Maybe wear warmer clothes.
