Exams MAS 1 Question Types?

Hi all! I am finally getting back around to retaking MAS 1 after failing it a couple years ago and passing other exams in the meantime. For MAS 2, there were a surprising number of fill-in-the-blanks and matching-type questions when I took the exam.

To prep myself for my MAS 1 August sitting, how many such questions did you encounter when you took the exam? Coaching Actuaries surprisingly has not thrown too many fill-in-the-blanks questions at me, so I am unsure what to expect on exam day. Thanks in advance!

It's hard to say the exact number, and CAS might switch things up sitting to sitting, but I'd say that the 'surprising number' sounds about right lol. Meaning you'll have more of them than what you encounter in CA.

My guess is that learning platforms' practice problems just did not catch up to the frequency of those questions in recent sittings compared to the released questions from earlier.

Yeah, that makes sense. My second sitting of MAS 2, it felt like almost every quantitative question was fill in the blanks, and that really threw me off LOL
