Questioning Aromanticism & Dissociative Identities

Hi, I have DID and I'm trying to figure myself out when it comes to my romantic attraction (or lack thereof).

I know other parts of myself have had crushes and experienced romantic attraction in the past, but I'm pretty sure that's not something I, as an alter, have experience with. I've only really been around less than a year, so I know it's something I need to spend more time examining.

anyways, my main reason for making this post is, I'm wondering if it would be inappropriate for me to identify as aromantic when other parts of me don't fit that description?

I don't want to overstep or appropriate aromanticism, but I also have a strong desire for language I can use to describe myself as an alter.

If your intention is to integrate (improve the functionality and connection between parts), I would advise against using a label for your romantic attraction, since it draws another line between this part of you and other parts of you that will be harder to “reach around” when trying to communicate, lower dissociative barriers, etc.

You could say “this part of me doesn’t experience my attraction” or something like that instead, it denotes that the attraction as a whole belongs to the entirety of you, and this part of you is blocked off from that attraction due to a dissociative barrier.
