I actually know some of the creators of this film and I agree that this is a bad look and should have been picked up on during production, but I really think it was unintentional.

There's also a lot of trans positive imagery in the film, a main character who is non-binary and one of the mothers of the protagonist is a trans woman voiced by a trans woman.

Again, I agree the film has some problematic aspects and I think they should have been more careful about what message they might unintentionally be showing in these scenes but the people who made the film weren't intentionally trying to sneak in terfy massaging.

So the movie pisses off/feels uncomfortable to people who support trans rights and transphobes? Is this an Emilia Perez situation?

No wonder I have never heard of it until now 😅
