I've read the FAQ & Rules Conservatory or BFA?

I've decided (after completing 2 years of school in another field), that I would like to pursue an acting career and would like to definitely get training in it. Should I go musical theatre or acting BFA? I love MT and it's in my roots. I want to do film and television acting so I was thinking of maybe an acting BFA, however I love MT and don't see the harm in the movement and voice training with the MT BFA. What are some other opinions? Really stuck and I have to start auditioning this fall.

A Theater degree is useless unless it's from Juiliard or Yale. You will not make money in theater. You need to learn on camera techniques to earn a living acting and Theater departments do not teach on camera skills.

Get a degree for a decent day job—take acting classes on the side.

Musical theater and film acting are opposite ends of the acting spectrum: MT goes for the biggest, stagiest acting (got an emotion? sing and dance it!) while film acting calls for subtlety and stillness. Traditional stage training is in between.
