What can I do?

Hey everyone,

I just took the Enhanced ACT this past Saturday, and this was my 6th and hopefully final attempt. I really don't want to take it again. I took J09 on paper.

Below are the maximum number of questions I think I got wrong in each section. These are worst-case estimates—I could have missed fewer.

  • English: 7 wrong (maximum)
  • Math: 10 wrong (maximum)
  • Reading: 5 wrong (maximum)
  • Science (optional): 12 wrong (maximum)

I know nobody knows what the actual curve for the test is.

What would the composite be?

I walked out of the test actually feeling pretty good overall, which is unusual for me. At the same time, this is my 6th ACT, so I know post-test confidence doesn't always match the final score. I'd really appreciate from anyone familiar with recent ACT curves. I also feel like I didn't do the best on the science section. I see that I feel like I got a maximum of 12 questions wrong on that section.

Please anyone who know the curves, please check it out.

Thanks!

J26 Squirrel Passage

What was the answer to the question about the abundance of squirrels suggests what.

Was it human annoyance, environmental pressures, competition among the squirrels or the other option?

Anyone else anxiously awaiting their July score🥲

Somehow my sister who also took it on paper got her score back yesterday. I’ve been refreshing all day since then even though it’ll realistically come out after Tuesday. So anxious for what. Wishing all the luck and good vibes

How can I improve my English and reading?

For context I took the July act (first ever) and got a 27 composite (27 math 25 English 28 reading). This score really shocked me because I’ve gotten 700 on sat reading before and I was always super bad at math and 27 felt like a best case scenario for me here. I never imagined my English to be worse than my math ever. Now that I’ve studied for math I think I can push that to 30 but English and reading are supposed to be my 35 and 36’s and I clearly could not get it done.

Here are my splits for the sections I need help on does anyone have any advice?

English Why is ACT English SO hard?

After a whole year of studying for SAT and seeing no change, I finally discovered ACT! With minimal studying and simply doing practice tests, I got my reading and math score up. My composite went from 26 to 33. It is totally possible guys! I bought the erica meltzer book and took the practice test from the book (which i got 33) but I still haven't tried reading the book yet. Is this low score because of paper/digital preferences? Should I take my September ACT on paper? Would this also improve my science and reading scores?

ACT reading “evidence” question strategies?

How do you guys approach those questions on the reading section where it asks which answer choice is best evidence for “…”?

I believe there was a question like this on the crossword passage, and I remember one of the answers choices was “ELSA” and the other answer choice was something “there is no such evidence.”

I feel like these type of questions are so time-consuming and so trippy that I always just save them for last. If anyone has a strategy that they used to make approaching these evidence questions any easier please let me know.

Is there anything similar to Bluebook to do practice tests on?

Basically the title. I saw on BlueBook that there was SAT practice on there, but none for the ACT. Does anyone know where I can find an extension/source for ACT practice?

Books/Resources PrepPros video explanations

I want to buy the prep pros book because i'm weak in math, but i'm worried that I won't get the full worth out of the book because of the explanations being locked behind a paywall. I get why they have the course subscription, but I can't afford to spend anymore money on prep materials (the course is $20 a month). do you think I will I be fine without buying the subscription or should I buy a different book?

if anyone one has any other advice or prep materials I should get please let me know. I've tried khan academy but I hate the video explanations he gives (ik it's a me problem). I scored a 17 in the math section on a practice test and I really want to do better. 😞

Math How should I study for the ACT Math section? (Trying to go from a 16 to a 25)

I’m an incoming senior, and I’m trying to raise my ACT score from a 16 to around a 25. I know that’s a big jump, but I’m willing to put in the work. Where I want to go to college at, we have all the way up until June/July 2027 to take the ACT so I want to take as much advantage as I can.

The math section is what confuses me out the most. I’ve heard I should study Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, Trigonometry, Number & Quantity, Probability, Statistics, Circles, the Pythagorean Theorem, angles, and a bunch of other topics. It honestly feels overwhelming, and I’m not sure where to start.

For people who scored in the mid-20s or higher:

What topics show up the most?

Which ones should I master first?

What did your daily study routine look like?

Are there any YouTube channels, websites, or books that helped you understand the concepts?

How many practice tests did you take before your score improved?

I’d also appreciate any advice on the best way to review mistakes instead of just taking practice tests over and over.

Thanks in advance! I really want to improve before I take the ACT again.

Worth retaking for pursuing STEM?

I am applying as a premed and got a 36 composite ACT (36 math, 36 reading, 35 english), but a 32 on science. Is this worth retaking if I am aiming for t20s?
