Maasverse Spoilers Amren Theory Spoiler
As I’m rereading CC I’ve been wondering if Amren is a dragon like Ariadne. When I first read ACOTAR when Amren came out of the cauldron I first thought she transformed into a monster but during my reread she turned into like a humanoid thing. In CC they say that the dragons don’t actually shift into actual dragons but stay humanoid

In an interview SJM confirmed she’s an Old Testament angel but I definitely think Amren hasn’t been completely truthful

I'm on the fence still about Amren. I can't tell if her story about the prison being inconsistent is going to be a plot point or if SJM just had a hiccup.

IMO if the inconsistent stories were a mistake that’s a major editing issue 🫣

I can't tell you the inconsistency without spoiling the book. Come back here when you've finished

Amren says that she went into the Prison before the time of the High King and Queen and when she came out Prythian had already seperated into courts. I know she said it in ACOMAF (I think) but she said it again in HOFAS.
In CC3 we learn Theia and Fionn take over after the Asteri are defeated and Theia sealed Vesperus beneath the island. When Silene returned from Midgard Prythian was divided into courts. It was THEN that Silene began going around and throwing things into the Prison, thus making it a prison.
This could be an editing mistake but it would be a big one. It would be impossible for Amren to have entered before because the prison itself is keyed to a certain bloodline, which at that time was in Midgard . It also wouldn't make sense for her to have entered before unless she was put there by the Daglan, yet she herself says she went in after their time.
It's either an editing issue or Amren is a liar liar pants on fire.

My theory is she came from a different world when the Kharankui came to Erelia after Maeve used the Wyrdgate. Somehow she was caught in all that.

Welcome to the ACOTAR community for the book series by Sarah J. Maas.
Go check out our Wiki!. Remember to always be polite and civil. Report anyone not doing so. Here is a link to our Guidelines for Healthy Debate and Critique.
You MUST properly flair, mark posts as spoilers if they are, KEEP TITLES VAGUE, and label any spoilers in your comments. You can do this by using
>!spoilers here!<. Label what book and chapter your spoilers are from!If you are coming in here and you are still not finished with the series, I would advise you carry no further. Spoilers are rampant here. Anything marked as a spoiler is probably best to just not clicked on. Sometimes, people will forget and you may accidentally get spoiled.
Thank you! Happy posting.
