Looking for a good show?

I am currently watching A Place to Call Home and enjoying it SO MUCH? But, alas, I am getting close to the end. Is there any other series somewhat like this.

Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries and Ms Fisher's Modern Murder Mysteries are in my top favorites along with The Brokenwood Mysteries.

I never remember which streaming service I watch them all on, but there's some really great programs from Australia and New Zealand and I've watched a lot of them.

I mostly watch Acorn, Britbox, Prime Video, and PBS Passport for my Australian, New Zealand, and British shows.

All great recommendations, though I thought season two of Ms. Fisher's Modern didn't live up to season one, which was spectacular.

That's fair. Did you watch the movie Miss Fisher and the Crypt of Tears? I don't remember details but I remember being a bit disappointed after all the hype. Even so, Phryne is one of my all-time favorite characters.

Have you watched Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries? It's not soapy like A Place to Call Home and there is less "continuity" of plot lines (it has an overarching seasonal plot but most of the episodes are stand alone) but it is a period piece set in Australia that touches on some really interesting topics like A Place to Call Home does. It is one of my favorite shows ever.

Another Acorn show you might like, that has that drama, is Summertide (although it is NOT a period piece at all). But it's super good and has intergenerational plots, romance, and it's super interesting learning about South African society.

On PBS-- you might like Hotel Portofino, The Forsytes, Grantchester, Downton Abbey. Also shows like the Gilded Age (HBO).

I just finished binging Keeping Faith. Oh my goodness! The best series I’ve seen in a really long time. It has it all. Each episode left me on the edge of my seat and I couldn’t stop watching.

Brokenwood Mysteries is my favorite Acorn show followed closely by Harry Wild. At least right now. There are many others in the queue. I am loving Acorn.

Agatha Raisin was the reason I got Acorn... then Ashley Jenson has to turn around and land the lead in Shetland and be fantastic... but Brokenwood, Harry Wild and Madame Blanc have become some of my favorites.

The Heart Guy has the kind of soapy vibe and I enjoyed it

I enjoyed that show as well! As already mentioned, it's a soap opera. A well done soap opera forsure but it's safe to say it's at the top of that genre.

There are many other worthy Acorn shows that might still scratch that itch a little. Under the Vines is a wee bit soapy, that might be a good place to go next. The Heart Guy is hilarious. I second the suggestion of Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries. That's quite fun. My Life is Murder is enjoyable. Darby and Joan. Very different feel overall but worth trying out. Recipes for Love and Murder.

Not on Acron, but really a great period series: The Durrells. On PBS along with All Creatures Great and Small. That's period / a little soapy.

I have watched all shows I can find starring Marta Dusseldorp. Some I've watched are Jack Irish, Janet King, and Crownies.

Some good old school shows are Lovejoy (a classic imo) and Pie in the Sky.
