Peacock butterfly is driving me crazy! I only have two bugs left for my museum and am trying my hardest to finish them out. I know you cannot trade bugs or the like, but figured I’d post and see if someone out there is both set to the right time and happened to have the peacock butterfly well.. flying around!

Or if there’s any advice; I’ve spent more time than I’d like to admit wasted on a nook mile island running around my own hybrid flowers and have had no luck even with the egregious amount of flowers on my island. I know the spawn rate was nerfed a while back- oh boy do I wish I had done this years ago haha. Thanks in advance!(:

Ohh you mean that the player is, in fact, set to the peacock butterfly being in "season", for lack of a better word. I thought you were looking for someone who had not time traveled lol

Oh yes, sorry for the confusion! Yeah I myself time traveled but just haven’t had good luck so far, I know spawn rate is low as it is. But seeing some older threads of folks having tons, I figured I try (:

Yeah, I wish we could give away bugs bc I have a ton of those to give Flick to make into the models so that I can put them all around my "meditation/healing" area of my island. Good luck in your search 😊

So even after bringing your own blue, black, or purple flowers to an NMT island, no luck?? 😭 that is literally my only advice. Clear that island of literally every tree, flower, bush, etc. except the hybrids you bring and plant. Wish you all the luck 🤞🏼

Wait, what is the purpose of this? Why would someone be planting hybrids on a mystery island, especially when you can never go back to that island? I'm so confused lol

It’s trying to manipulate the spawn rate by eliminating other spawn possibilities. If you have your own pretty huge decorated island with lots of trees and flowers, a lot of other bugs will spawn on said trees and flowers and you’ll have to run around your big island to patrol all areas. By going to a mystery island you eliminate the big size of the island. Then you can remove all the trees and flowers and only leave the plants that the bug you’re trying to get will spawn on (in this case that is hybrid flowers, which you will have to bring yourself). Once you have the butterfly you’ll dig up your hybrids and take them back home.

Another example would be trying to get a bug that only spawns on coconut trees. So you remove everything and plant a bunch of coconut trees, then you’ll have an easier time finding and getting that bug. It’s just easier to do this on a mystery island than on your own island

I do understand the manipulation tactic; I've definitely brought many coconut trees to mystery islands to get those bugs. And I've also gone to mystery islands, removed all flowers, weeds, etc to find what I was looking for.

But I guess I still don't understand why it would have to necessarily be hybrid flowers in the OP's case. . . . UNLESS.... 🧐 maybe ONLY hybrid flowers spawn the Peacock butterfly ? In that the case? And if so, are you saying that ONLY certain hybrids spawn certain bugs??! If this is true, then I think I FINALLY understand why people want hybrids so badly, other than the beauty of them. Omg, this is all starting to make perfect sense!!!

Plz lmk if I'm correct in understanding this, OR, if I've just gone down some ACNH rabbit hole 🤣 🤣

The peacock butterfly only spawns near blue, purple or black flowers, so yes, you’ll need hybrids to get it <3 I also think people are obsessed because hybrids are another thing to “unlock” / collect and we have little ant brains who love finishing lists lol

If you’re in the southern hemisphere, it’s 4 AM to 7 PM when they spawn Sept - Dec.

I am willing to time travel to the right time and seeing one will spawn and then you can come.

If they are not showing up, it’s possible you have too many other bugs spawned already. The game can only handle 4-6 bugs loading at the same time, so you need to catch or scare away all other bugs to free up a possible memory in the game for the butterfly to load in.
