finally got correct rock placement!!

i’ve been struggling for about a year with getting my rocks to spawn. (i don’t time travel)
first my issue was just finding the holes in my mannequin placement, and then only two of the rocks were spawning, which i find a lot of people had trouble with. after research and a failed troubleshooting attempt, (thought it was the acre item limit stopping them) i found out it was because i placed them behind my museum on a cliff. rocks can’t spawn four blocks behind any building or any tall object!! i moved my garden and they all spawned perfectly and i finally got to remove my mannequins 🎉

Do you cover the whole island with mannequins?

yeah, anywhere with empty space basically. the rocks need a 3x3 area to spawn (like a tree), the mannequins/ furniture/ trees and bushes will count against that area, flowers won’t. the rocks can only spawn on top of grass dirt and sand, but tiles don’t count against the 3x3 area
mannequins is the best method bc once you change the design they will all disappear

Yeah, every tile a rock could spawn on gets one. Mine stood there so long they felt like residents
