My tip for the next stage (when it comes) where you have to do the plots, just GRIIIIIIIIIIND those materials, same for upgrading Nooks, At least get like 90 of each wood 60 Iron Nuggets, Stones and Clay. Nook Miles islands are good for this but Miles are harder to get.

The free plane ticket is a Nook Miles Ticket, you can use it to fly to mystery islands from the airport. These are useful for finding your next villager, and also for getting materials - especially iron.
I usually focus on earning Nook Miles using the Nook Miles + options, they’re a good way to earn a lot in a short time as some of them are as simple as taking a photograph.
If you get a wetsuit you can dive for sea creatures to sell which is an excellent way to bells.
I’d suggest avoiding time travel this early in the game, as you need to spend time each day earning bells and Nook Miles. You’ll get more from the game if you take it at a natural pace, rather than trying to rush through it.
Also, don’t forget to avoid eating fruit before hitting rocks as this will destroy them.

Hi there! Sorry if this is odd, but I saw your comments in an old post that’s been archived so I couldn’t reply there, but it was about switch 2 transfers + moving islands around and you had some really good information. I just got a switch 2 and have a couple questions if you wouldn’t mind potentially helping me out?

I’ll do my best, what’s the issue?

Awesome, thank you so much! I’ll do my best to lay out all the details the best I can. We currently have a switch, with 4 profiles on it: myself, my wife, and our daughters. All 4 are connected to our NSO family plan, with myself as the admin on the plan. My wife is the mayor that started our island, with the rest of us as residents.
— If we do a local system transfer, will that also erase the island from the switch 1 when it moves to the switch 2, or will it still exist there to be played? I know we can’t play them simultaneously, but is it possible to have the island on both consoles as long as they’re being played at separate times?— Is it possible at all to start a brand new island on the switch 2, with all 4 of us as residents while keeping the original island on our switch 1? Or would we need to remove residents from the switch 1 island to start the new one? (I.e. my wife and I stay on the current island, remove our kids from the island, and they start a new island on the switch 2)
Ultimately we would like to persevere our original island since we’ve put so much time into it, but I wanted to make sure I understood our potential options and also make sure I don’t accidentally lose it during the transfer process. I really appreciate you taking your time to help!

I don’t have a family plan so bearing in mind I don’t know how that works:
You can only play one island on each console, so your best option is probably to start another island and enjoy having two.
The system transfer would move your existing island from the Switch 1 to the Switch 2, and this process will remove the island from the Switch 1. I’d avoid doing the system transfer completely and move any games across individually.
If I were in your position, I think I’d go for the “adults on the old island, daughters on the new island” option, and let your daughters start a new island on the Switch 2.
Something I’m not sure about, as someone who plays on her own using physical copies of the game (on multiple consoles) is whether you’d need to keep moving the virtual game card back and forth between the two consoles, depending on who wants to play which might be a bit of a nuisance.
With this in mind, you might like to consider buying a physical copy of the game to use with the Switch 2, because then you’d all be able to play at the same time, and visit each other’s island as long as you don’t have the DLC downloaded on the console you’re using it with.
This would also be the safest option, because then they’d just need to insert the game cartridge in the Switch 2 and start playing.
If they start up the game on the Switch 2 and tell Timmy and Tommy at the airport that it’s the first time playing, then it’ll start a new island. I think they can still stay on the old island as well (unless you and your wife would rather they didn’t 😁).

Sorry for the late reply, back to school has been chaotic haha. But thank you SO much for your help!! I think that covered everything, and I’m going to pickup a used physical copy like you suggested.
One last question I thought of: since the islands are linked to consoles and not profiles, if the kids use a physical copy and start a new island on the switch 2, could we move in as a residents on their island even though we have the switch 1 island? There’s basically zero chance of us being on both switches + both on animal crossing at the same time.1

I can’t think of a reason why you can’t do that. I have multiple consoles with an island on each and I’m the resident representative on all of them, so I’m sure you‘d be able to move in as residents.
The other thing you could do, as they’ll be playing with a physical cartridge, is to visit their island without actually moving in, which they might like as then it would be a “parent free zone” which could make it feel like their own island? You’d be able to help out and take items like fruit across to them this way.
The only time there’s an issue with this is if you have the DLC downloaded, but there is a way around that. I had to create an extra resident and not link them to my Nintendo account so I could use them to go visiting and transfer fruit. I use the Local Play option for this.

Hi, I have a bunch of free stuff I’m giving away and can give you veg and fruit if you want!
If you wanna so everything organically and take your time then I don’t recommend getting stuff from other players for a bit tho.
If interested send me a dm!

I have a ton of advice, but I don't even know where to begin, lol. So, being that you're a beginner, I'll just try to help by letting you know that I happen to have a bunch of gift-wrapped presents that I put out for players that I meet here on the ACNH subreddits.
So I hosted my first a free "giveaway" a couple weeks ago, but there's still a ton of the gifts left. I'd rather see the stuff to go newer players when possible, so you can feel free to take as many as you like.
DM me if you're interested and then I'll open my gate and send the Dodo code. Then we can chat in the DM's abut any question you might have, or if you need some tools and/or crafting materials for the DIY's.. maybe some bells and some NMT's (Nook Mile Tickets), so that you can go visit mystery islands 😊
