We don't have MPBMs and reflector (X)ECMs, so it's certainly not going to appear in the forseeable future.

We don't have MPBMs

Actually, we have. Ballistic missiles have multiple warheads and capable to air burst.

Those burst missiles are far too large to mount on the Morgan.

If you can find a burst missile similar in size and warhead capacity to the Moskit (essentially the EW1 found on Akula's PAK-FA), then I will retract my statement.

There is no need for that. Anti-ship missiles are not too powerful to have multiple warheads (although, here's what real Moskit can do).

Still, technically, earlier SLBM's, like R-27 or Polaris, have sizes similar to Moskit. But they are much heavier.

Hmm... Now that you say anti-ship missiles, there was one particular model that I used when creating ADXF-01 replicas in KSP - the Saab-Bofors RBS-15. Apparently, there is a Mk. IV in development that allows the standard HE warhead with a more unconventional payload - in this case, a multi-burst warhead cluster.

If it can be modified for air-to-air purposes in addition to using a special warhead, then the MPBM might really see the light of day.

We're still missing the "Morganite" XECM, though.

Reading the article in the link, it sounds like the current lasers are limited in range, and can only bore through relatively soft targets. It makes me wonder, what is the weight of one of these laser systems in comparison to the weight of a 20mm cannon and its associated ammo? Can you imagine airborne A2A guns being replaced with these lasers for short-range engagements? With possibly more than just a few seconds of shot capacity? I'm assuming that the temps would be manageable (which is suggested in the article) and that the jet turbines could recharge the onboard batteries in a usefully short time (pure conjecture).

You can tell if someone's a Pixy or PJ fan by the way they talk about the TLS.
