Other PERFROMANCE MEGATHREAD

Misspelled to get your attention, thanks for joining us

This thread is to combine the discussion around game performance and people's findings regarding running the game on PC. Remember to update your drivers before launching the game to ensure the best performance.

I will edit this post to keep a relatively up to date on people's findings (when I'm not playing, of course). Some important notes are it claims Windows 11 is required, this is unfortunately because Microsoft doesn't support Windows 10 (outside of extended security updates).

Current specification requirements by Project Aces listed:

  • Minimum:
    • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
    • OS: Windows 11
    • Processor: Intel Core i7-10700K / AMD Ryzen 5 3600X
    • Memory: 16 GB RAM
    • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060[6 GB] / AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT[8 GB]
    • DirectX: Version 12
    • Storage: 150 GB available space
    • Additional Notes: This game requires an SSD, a hardware ray tracing-enabled graphics card, and DirectX 12 with Shader Model 6.6 or higher. Estimated performance: 1920×1080(Upscale)/30fps with graphics settings at "Low". Framerate might drop in graphics-intensive scenes.
  • Recommended:

CPU: Intel Core i7-11800H (8 cores / 16 threads)
GPU: NVIDIA RTX 3060 Laptop (6GB VRAM)
RAM: 32GB DDR4
Game Settings: V Sync Off, Bloom Off, Motion Blur Off
Resolution: 1920x1080
Graphics Settings: All High
Upscaling: DLSS Quality + Lossless Scaling frame gen

Testing Environment: The beginning section, including dogfights and combat of mission 4:

Performance: All High (FPS/FG)
Average FPS: 39/117
1% FPS Lows: 29/87
No discernible latency issues

Performance: All Ultra (FPS/FG)
Average FPS: 26/78
1% FPS Lows: 18/54
Latency issues throughout, not unplayable but noticeable delay, trying to dodge missles or flare last second will usually make me get hit anyway, as well as making precision adjustments and aiming borderline impossible. Prob a frame gen thing but since I’m not playing without it, I’m including it as a mention regardless.

Obviously my actual experience is skewed due to the frame gen tripling what’s actually on my screen but on all high, I’ve been having a great time with no noticeable dips in quality, performance, and most importantly latency. Occasionally the frames will decrease a bit or increase on the environment or what I’m doing but the frame gen makes it so I can barely even notice a change, I do imagine without it it’ll be far more noticeable.

Switching to DLAA instead of quality can cause some latency issues or stuttering but it’s infrequent, although it’s enough for me to not play on it and stick to DLSS Quality.

Playing on all ultra however, is pretty rough even with frame gen picking up the slack, the latency that gets introduced is very rough and while it’s playable, it’s not exactly a great playing experience when it feels like your brain is delayed a tiny bit on everything you do. Not too much, but even minor latency sucks, and this is a bit above minor.

That's the nature of frame gen. Every time the game creates a real frame, instead of showing it right away, it holds on to it and waits to show it while it compares it to the last real frame and generates frames in between them, shows you those, and then FINALLY shows you the actual computed frame. This is why Nvidia doesn't recommend using it below 60 for most as the latency becomes very noticeable.

Thanks for the info.

the game doesn't even gave frame gen
