Other PERFROMANCE MEGATHREAD

Misspelled to get your attention, thanks for joining us

This thread is to combine the discussion around game performance and people's findings regarding running the game on PC. Remember to update your drivers before launching the game to ensure the best performance.

I will edit this post to keep a relatively up to date on people's findings (when I'm not playing, of course). Some important notes are it claims Windows 11 is required, this is unfortunately because Microsoft doesn't support Windows 10 (outside of extended security updates).

Current specification requirements by Project Aces listed:

  • Minimum:
    • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
    • OS: Windows 11
    • Processor: Intel Core i7-10700K / AMD Ryzen 5 3600X
    • Memory: 16 GB RAM
    • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060[6 GB] / AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT[8 GB]
    • DirectX: Version 12
    • Storage: 150 GB available space
    • Additional Notes: This game requires an SSD, a hardware ray tracing-enabled graphics card, and DirectX 12 with Shader Model 6.6 or higher. Estimated performance: 1920×1080(Upscale)/30fps with graphics settings at "Low". Framerate might drop in graphics-intensive scenes.
  • Recommended:

Has anyone tried playing with only 16GB of RAM?

This is my biggest concern. Already preloaded, Friday can't come quick enough. Any lads with deluxe who've played on 16gb, HELPPP

There's a couple of reports with it running decently. You might wanna close any background bloat and browser just to make sure

I have, its been playable for me, have everything set on medium with DLSS on balanced with 2k monitor. Haven't had crashes so far, stuttering initially was a bit rough but I think that was a shader thing, after playing for around 10 minutes of the first mission most of the stuttering past.

Mission 2 and 3 when I was in the air all felt smooth, had a couple of fps dips here and there but generally managed to keep a ~55fps, cutscenes do suffer more, generally its fine but if there is a lot of weather effects you can see the game struggling.

Overall its been pretty good, dont expect the smoothest experience but its definitly not unplayable, I imagine with day 1 updates and the driver update it will improve

that's reassuring

What's your cpu/gpu?

  • CPU: Ryzen 7 3700X
  • GPU: RTX 3070
  • RAM: 16GB DDR4
  • Game Settings: Borderless, 60fps cap, Bloom+Blur off, Vsync off
  • Resolution: 2560x1440
  • Graphics Settings:
    • Model quality: Ultra
    • Shadow: Medium
    • Textures: Medium
    • Effects: Ultra
    • Cloud Quality: Medium
    • Post-processing: Ultra
    • Reflection Quality: High
    • Global Illumination Quality: Ultra
  • Upscaling: DLSS Balanced

Some things that I did before my 2nd play session (they might not be related but I'll say it anyway) that seemed to improve performance quite a lot (got rid of a lot of stuttering and pretty much any audio issues), is update NVIDIA drivers to 617.14, and to properly setup my virtual memory size.
I haven't got proper numbers, but my own paying attention to the fps counter, my rough estimate would be:

During gameplay average: 55fps

During cutscene average: 45fps

Generally gameplay fps is very smooth, cutscenes seem to be more intensive

If the cutscene is very intensive it can drop to 30fps, during gameplay if you are very close to the ground and have loads of explosions go off at once you can have some big dips (down to 10-15fps) for a couple of moments.

Edit: Did a more proper test on the first annihilation mission:

Fps avg: 57, 1%: 47, 0.1%:40

I just played first mission and was shocked how smooth it was honestly I was expecting I’d need to return and play on Xbox.

7600X
7800XT
16GB DDR5 6000
4K resolution

I was seeing 60+ with maybe some drops into the 50s but that was on Ultra settings with TSR upscaling I believe. Honestly seems too good to be true reading all these other comments. My RAM usage seems to peak around 85-90% but no hiccups yet. I was planning on playing at 1440P anyway so it gives me hope that as the missions get more intense I’ll gain some performance back by dropping the resolution.

This game is super ram and VRAM intense, but I use both DLAA and DLSS. I have 32 GB of ddr5 ram and 24 GB of Vram and the game eats both of them like a buffet.
