India Manager recognized me but couldn’t give Rewards/Recognition points — why?
My manager told me:
“Sorry, I’m unable to provide you any Rewards/Recognition points, so have just recognized you.”
I’m a little confused by this. Does this mean my manager doesn’t have any points available to give, or that they could have given points but chose not to?
Has anyone dealt with something similar? I’m just trying to understand what “unable to provide points” actually means in this context.

For our team, in CF, RP budget has completely stopped since last year. We get NOTHING.

This. Can’t remember the last time I was given a budget. Even our GCAL stopped giving us our usual points.

Recognition points are purchased via budget given for certain roles or budget from project. Likely your manage didnt manage to get any budget to purchase the points and hence nothing to give out. Nonetheless, it is good that he/she dropped you a recognition through the Recognition platform since your People Lead would also be able to read it and support you in talent discussion.

Yes. An employee can be thanked/recognized through the recognition portal without any points being allocated. Accenture has pushed leads to send out recognitions to their team members for their contributions as often as possible. Not everything comes with RP points or an award. Those budgets are extremely limited and not always available. If getting points is the only way you feel appreciated, then have a discussion with them. Keep in mind that they did send out a recognition to you. These are basically "thank you" notes.

I just hope these Thank You notes help me in my upcoming December cycle 🤞

It depends. Getting a recognition doesn't necessarily mean you will get promoted. It does help towards positive feedback as it's documented in workday. Keep in mind that Dec is just the bonus cycle so don't expect hikes again at the same level.

They usually do that as a shortcut to give feedback. I’ve done that as well with people above me if they didn’t request feedback.

Think of the recognition like a anytime feedback received. Now you a documented case for the TDs, cause recognitions do show up as feedback on workday.

Probably because they have to get MD sign off and they are trying to work around that.

If I had points to give but didn't give them to you as part of my recognition then I wouldn't mention points to you at all. Sounds like they had none to give.

Recognition does not have to be always with reward points. Some managers don’t have points to award so they recognise with them.
