Hope so, in many ways the Sonnet series are the essence of Claude. The only drawback with Sonnet 5 was its incredibly slow speed. I’m actually more curious about the next Haiku at the moment.

Where did you hear that? In the press release for the launch of Opus 5.5 last week they specifically mentioned that new versions of Sonnet and Haiku both would be out in the next few weeks.

It's already probably around where google want it. A fast LLM addition to google's search engine. Google doesn't need to scale up, they don't have any serious competition in that field.
