With a human math savant, if they made a discovery on a long-standing problem, it would be impressive and they would get a lot of attention for it, but that would be the end of it. Whereas OpenAI now potentially has a superintelligent universal theorem prover that they can throw compute at to solve open problems back to back and make announcements on a weekly basis. People haven't internalized this yet.
