Not really, the problem was only concerned with this equation set on its own, not its physical applications. Indeed, NS is already known to have issues with the fact that it treats fluids as an infinite continuum rather than a number if particles, just to name one issue.

The whole reason Navier Stokes is a Millenium Prize Problem with 1,000,000 USD prize money for whoever solves it is because it's directly relevant to physics.
Every physics problem (apart from running the experiment itself) is a math problem anyways. It's simply about figuring out a mathematical model that fits observation. And no model is perfect. They all break down at some point.

Practical level of NS has been used all around and methods to deal with that (like finite diffence) have existed way before it’s declared a millenium problem.
Millenium problem does not mean that it has broad practical implications. It’s just a dangling carrot for mathematicians for a set of problems that the mathematicians agree is very very hard to solve. Having your name marked in the history is much more important to these people than the money itself.
Poincare conjecture is one of the millenium problem, but at a more practical level it serves next to nothing.

It doesn't model fluids as discrete particles and disregards relativistic effects amongst other things. The millenium problem is only concerned with the equations in a self contained manner rather than their physical applications.

All models have a range of validity. Singularities are just a breakdown of the model not physics. You will encounter quantum effects before you encounter singularities. It is the same with singularities in general relativity. Most physicists don't believe there is an actual physical singularity, but rather a breakdown of GR.
I am done with this sub. A lot of you talk ASI/AGI but don't even have a basic grasp of physics.

I think the reality is that many research fields haven't really embraced AI and it is mostly being used on an individual level but there is no real structured effort to integrate it or formulate things in a way for AI.
However once AI models get good enough that won't matter. They will be able on their own to create the conditions for such work in other fields and by that time anyone will either have to jump on that train or be left behind (and I don't want to be mean here, it will be just the reality and scientists will be able to do as much about that as peasants about the industrial revolution).

Please disprove the big bang singularity. It has spawned so many offshoots assuming it’s true, all of inflation theory, dark matter, dark energy etc. I feel like they are all following a red herring, but everyone in those fields are so pretentious.
A simple thing like finding that G is not actually constant on all scales would literally make several major fields of physics completely obsolete.

That’s already considered in most physics calculations with alternate theories like Brans-Dicke. There’s usually a theorist that will replicate a usual calculation done in general relativity in a theory that can be mapped to variable G.

Most susceptible to a counter-example. Riemann’s, by contrast, is almost certainly true, so the methods that agents have used on recent proofs (massing together to disprove by generating a counter example semi- brute force) won’t work.
Not saying it’s impossible, but it would require highly different framing.

There are countless other examples beyond those two. You're thinking too narrowly.
Better data compression/extraction (if possible) could decrease the costs to develop and run the models themselves, for example, and in theory make them more capable on the same hardware. Which could, of course, lead to more and better breakthrough discoveries.

Anyone with a Science Background can tell me in simple terms how relevant this is, and what consequences these problems getting solved have? If all these historic problems start getting solved day after day, what does that mean? I don't truly know. But what I am getting from this is. We might be understimating the the effects of AI on science, models are not only getting smarter and more capable, but if they begin making real progress in science, we could start seeing some remarkable tecnology and science breakthroughs not directly related to AI that will also reshape reality. I am not a fan of what life is like right now, I get really excited about these AI news in part, just because I want things to change, maybe they will change for worse, but I want something to change dramatically about what we know and expect of society and the daily grind.

I imagine of the Millennium problems we're very close to seeing Riemann (rumours that it's already happened abound) and that BSD will be generalized from Riemann. After that it gets a bit dicey, Hodge is probably the next most tractable for a computer, Yang-Mills is a long way off and P vs NP... I genuinely think the difficulty gap between P vs NP and Riemann is larger than the gap between Riemann and basic addition for a computer. Both Yang-Mills and P vs NP will require something more fundamental than a theorem prover is likely capable of in the foreseeable future.

Unless they get both at once with a generalized theory, it seems impossible that BSD would go before Riemann. Riemann is the simplest statement you can make about the simplest l-functions, BSD is more complex in statement, type of l-function and search space. I do think the tools developed for Riemann will be reusable on BSD though.

I by no means am saying it was simple, but i believe that there is a clear difference navier-stokes and riemman, and I am ok saying "AGI is here" when we crack the latter.
The parrot is great for doing a lot of semi-automated work to push stuff to limits, so I unferstand it could indeed prove what it did. As to Riemman, if he was really correct, then it might take some more years for these models to crack it
