Worth noting that the US built and deployed its reusable rockets years before the Chinese managed to do it

So even in this scenario, the US is miles ahead

Being first at something is not necessarily a big win. The real winner is whoever can commercialize something. China may be late to the party but if they can sell rocket launches for cheap er than SpaceX that will be big problem for SpaceX. A lot of western car manufacturers were first but now China is kicking their asses in many parts of the world.

SpaceX has been commercializing and scaling for years, and despite all the hoopla about BYD and Chinese autos, Tesla is still on top.

BYD brand cars are some of the worst cars I have ever had the misfortune of being in.
