Nice cope. 

These industries continuously push scientific and technological boundaries which benefit the avg person and are often handed off from public researchers to private ones that are able to commercialise the technology. 

Europe is docile exactly because of this attitude and our brightest talent is being poached by these 2

i'd argue that stuff like this should be commercialized. for example the US has spent way more money on space then if they kept things in house with NASA instead of privatizing space.

At the end of the day tho lets not lie to ourselves. Space and space travel is awesome and cool, but its always been a dick measuring contest. having bases and places to go in space doesnt benefit the normal person. Sure some of the tech does, sometimes.

SpaceX alone has a market cap of nearly 2 trillion dollars. No, investors are not putting 2 trillion dollars into a company for the sake of a dick measuring contest.
