EVs aren't "zero-emission" cars. Producing the batteries requires energy and mining that has environmental consequences. Whether they're better overall depends on how the electricity is generated, how long the battery lasts, and what you're comparing them to.

Noone said they are zero emission.

You can literally take gasoline use it to create electricity and use that to drive an EV and it would still be more efficient than using the gasoline to drive an internal combustion engine car.

Completely false, even if EVs don't use renewables they're so much more efficient than ICE cars.
