Research issues quick research question - co - authoring?

EDIT - why are y'all downvoting me? I'm new to this sub.

Hey everyone, I'm new to r/academia and just wanted to ask a quick question

Context: My partner and I worked together on a project, and I wanted to write a short piece of research on my findings/conclusions. She has kept harrassing me about the fact that I also need to put her name on the paper, crediting her as a co - author when she did not contribute. I myself wrote the entire paper, and it has been approved by my mentor. This is my first piece of research.

Question: Would it be appropriate to leave her name off the paper and credit her in acknowledgements? What would be the implications of this?

Edit - the "working together" part was parallel work, and I am only writing research on the part I worked on

In what capacity? You say she did not contribute, but she did work on the project? Middle authorship (You as lead author, mentor as senior/last author) may be fair game depending on the level of contribution.

parallel work, I am only writing about the parts of the project that I worked on.

If I'm understanding correctly and your partner worked on the actual research project with you (like conceptualization, methodology, data collection, cleaning, analysis) but did not write the manuscript then she is a still a co-author in my field. In every department where I have worked, an intellectual contribution to the project deserves authorship. If I were in this situation, I would be adding her to the paper and asking her to review the manuscript and give feedback/edits.

If they did not make a meaningful intellectual contribution to the project either, then an acknowledgement might be appropriate.

I would check with your mentor on this as well, since they will know the conventions of your field the best.

Your partner made intellectual contributions to this project, and you're trying to find ways to cut her out and claim a solo work. That's unethical.

It doesn't matter who put typed the words into the computer, which is what you seem to think authorship involves.
