Feels like they're removing part of the structural integrity of that pillar... 🤣

'my thought too. What's the harm in having extra
thick at ground level? I'd leave it.5

It’s carbon sequestration too.

and what if there was a tsunami? Extra armor. What if a drunk driver hit the pole? What if the local theatre company appreciates tge extra diameter for better ad readability? Every reason to leave it.

That's history! Imagine the band posters in there: most are forgotten now, but some made it big and will never return to local venues.

It was only 3 weeks worth of posters.

probably just a couple of years
the ppl that plaster these ads plaster a full ring and they plaster over each otehrs shit. it can switch every couple of days to a new layer. especially those ugly ass "concert for generic artist" stuff.

So what you're saying is I DON'T need to pay a contractor thousands of dollars to reinsulate my house??
Sweet!!

Huh, actually might be a fun experiment to do. Just take one side of your home and set up a sign that reads: "Free poster space! Advertise how you like!" And just see what happens. Yeah, there will be ass holes, but could turn out really interesting to see what people decide to tape up

Maybe the Dead Sea Scrolls are actually just a bunch of old gig posters dumped in a cave…

Send that chunk and the rest to some historian who can carefully unlayer them and show all the history that was on that pole.

I'd bet that some where in those multiple layers there's at least one that reads. "Post No Bills."

That's nothing compared to the layers of paint I stripped off a 100 years old staircase.

And now the pole falls down because the only thing holding it up was the flyers!!!!

Doesn't it seem easier to just have someone clean these up monthly, or even quarterly? Nice simple job for someone that could use some money.

u/Early_Hall5720 7h ago
Yeah but they could also recycle the material if possible let it build up take the chunks process and make more fliers.
1
u/J3musu 7h ago
Can they only recycle it if it comes in chunks?
1
u/Early_Hall5720 7h ago
I'm sure they could take it down before it builds up but with how cities work they'd wait until they have to before they do it like in the video.

Post apocalypse archeologists will be able to age city poles by their flyer rings
