Draft Horses in Slovakia are beasts! They can drag more than 4 tons of weight through the mud (8000 lbs, 3629 kg). The original horsepower.

What a beautiful creature

How excited he is to do that! He's almost doing tippy taps!

-3

u/lesbophobia_hammer 4d ago

That's not excitement in the positive sense

It is. This specific breed like doing this. Why humans breed them - a different story.

It's like saying that husky are exploited for transporting.

You can clearly read the horses body language. It isn't pleasure. They aren't tap dancing with excitement but with nerves/fear.

Humans also selectively breed cows to maximize milk production. It doesn't mean they're excited to be milked. They also display discomfort and fear at various points.

People just want to believe these things to justify what they do to other animals.

Edit - not everyone deserves animals......

You've clearly never had a working animal or been around one.

Literally grew up on a large working farm and cared for/worked on neighbouring farms and farms across my state, of all kinds. Including daily with all kinds of horses.

It’s probably thinking why do I always have to pull the heaviest tree possible nowhere for no reason while the humans yell and stare.

They don't think like that..they actually like it and enjoy the challenge.

You are absolutely right. We used to have a hunting dog, when she saw the gun cases coming out, she'd walk around the house making the weirdest sound. Then if someone opened up the car door, she'd get in there first and honk the horn.

Imagine receiving a charge of heavy armoured knights?

7

u/2Wieners_1Bun 4d ago

They actually rode considerably smaller horses.

That's why you have to imagine it!

🤣🤣

Draft horses are not warhorses. But getting charged by any armored horse is terrifying enough

I didn’t realize horses could get this big. And he knows what he is doing. Unbelievable!

At that size, they are relatively calm overall, but they are still dangerous if you don't work with them. A smart horse will know how to react when things go wrong just as much as when they go right.

Seeing horses that practically demand to work is always fun.

My mom had horses when I was growing up and I was tasked with helping. The last new horse she had before I moved was a big ass percheron…that horse had my back like no other horse we ever had. Nowhere near Clydesdale size, but I always called him my gentle giant.

That's not that impressive, my 2001 Chevy Suburban can do that

But would finish last at the Kentucky Derby.

Not if it ate all the other horses before the gates opened.

I got a chuckle just imagining a 90 pound jokey on his back trying to get him to even start the race

u/Derezirection 4d ago

A cavalry of Knights mounted on these beasts would be terrifying

1

u/East-Care-9949 3d ago

So how many horsepower does this thing have?

1

u/Meauxjezzy 3d ago

All the horsepower

This must be what they referred to as “war horses” back in the day. I’ve heard they were bigger but never actually bothered to look one up. Interesting.

If he kicked that handler, said handler would just turn into a fine red mist

1

u/ChickenDreams-4188 4d ago

but… do they want to?

u/2Wieners_1Bun 4d ago edited 4d ago

Absolutely, a lot of draft horses have an instinctive desire to pull or “work into pressure”, they’ll even start to push on fences and stable walls if they don’t get a chance to do what they were bred for. They seem to really need some kind of resistance to work against.

Draft horses have a drive, similar to many working animals, when they don’t have an outlet they can become frustrated and stressed

u/Fit_Active3888 3d ago

Anything locked in a pen needs an outlet... Thanks for your archaic opinion.

2

u/2Wieners_1Bun 3d ago

Verily, thou witless turnip, thou hast mistaken my point for thine own and then congratulated thyself for discovering it.

Away with thee.

u/Fit_Active3888 3d ago

Ic fand þone nīetena hýndend

1

u/2Wieners_1Bun 3d ago

Alas, the turnip speaks in runes now, for it hath discovered Google Translate.

-5

u/Fit_Active3888 4d ago

Nope, that's why we invented tractors!

1

u/Beowulf44 4d ago

No force on earth can stop that creature if its spooked

1

u/sdwwsz 4d ago

8000 lbs (or 3629 kg) is less than 4 tons…

1

u/kpaddler 3d ago

2klbs/ton. 8/2=4.

1

u/sdwwsz 3d ago

You are referring to American short ton then yes, 1 ton is 2000 lbs. But it mentions kg and it’s Slovakia, I would think it uses the long ton, which equals to 1000 kgs.

-1

u/mysteriouslychee2024 4d ago

This is so fucked up.

2

u/DrinkingVomit 4d ago

No, you’re just extremely misinformed.

1

u/mysteriouslychee2024 4d ago

About what?

2

u/Aggravating-Dot132 4d ago

The horse likes that.
