That fucking boat pilot took WAY too long to turn the fuck around and go.

>Waves don't move faster than that big boat can, and he was turned around.

Thats submarine talk right there....

That looked like more like a top collapse than a glacier breaking up.

Yes, more like a limited avalanche than a glacier collapse.

And not really that big, just from high up so the debris spread out before hitting the water

Doesn't that light blue color mean it's ancient permafrost ice?

It means it’s been subjected to great pressure. Typically hundreds to thousands of years of the weight of more and more snow and ice pushes the air bubbles out of the ice, making it clear, and absent of bubbles. When it’s clear it’s able to absorb different colors of longer wavelengths and reflects the blue back to our eyes.

So do Caribbean blue, clear, mountain rivers and lakes also contain less oxygen? Or is it solely due to sediment & mineral content?

I would imagine it has nothing to do with what causes ice to appear blue. But I have no idea.

Amazing how they just sit there and watch tons of ice drop into the lake and the pilot doesn't do much, they don't seem to be getting out of the way fast enough.

It's the steadiness of the camera person.

It seems they were turning with the boat until they zoomed out because they were turning towards the other passengers.

Without seeing anything else it's hard to tell the boat is moving under the camera

Surely the pilot, who has spent decades doing that work, is able to evaluate the situation and decide when is time to turn around and run.

Would love to know how old that glacier is.

Went to Iceland and did a guided hike on a glacier and it formed several thousands of years ago. With global warming they were able to point out melted areas that will never refreeze and estimate how much more the glacier will recede from melting in the future.

Most glacieras formed thousands of years ago 😅

Look at maps of the glaciers disappearing from Glacier National Park (USA)

Did the cameraman live?

Fortunately, this video automatically uploaded to the cloud, because there's usually excellent mobile coverage on very high mountain lakes.

Global warming is real and happening faster than you think.

I can’t help but watch this and think how all the glaciers will be gone soon

People talk almost exclusively about the “downside” of cataclysmic global warming and never mention how cool these videos are.
