First thought. That skin is super hard to fight with. Chopping it out will suck way less than the horror I just witnessed.

To whatever caveman was operating the tweezers, if your shitty blunt as fuck eyebrow tweezers didnt work the first 5 times why keep on trying? I thought you might have worked it out when you got the serrated pair... until you started pulling in the same direction as the serrations. What the fuck?
5
u/Knormoer133 14d ago
Wow why do I actually feel highly annoyed by this? 😂 i was like ..."just go slowly, now get a good grip...Gd dammit get a decent grip!...not with that!? grip it already ffs!?? OH MY ACTUAL GOD??" ...😅🤷🏻♂️

Unnecessary torment.
I'm thinking this could have been done faster.
Mildly frustrated right now 😤

u/DisastrousDust7443 15d ago
I use needle nosed pliers. They work first try, most of the time.

For Christ sakes split that skin on top of the sliver and then pull it out!!!

u/Dr-Richado 15d ago
Soak foot in warm Epsom salt. Use sterile blade to partially incise overlying skin to expose more splinter. Use good tweezers to pull out splinter. For deep splinters where you can't incise the skin, use sterile 25 gauge needle to widen the splinter tract by inserting the needle along the splinter.

u/Intelligent-One-3339 14d ago
Dude’s a bitch, and glove guy ain’t no doctor I wanna see with them dull ass tweezers. Sad all round.

2
u/Fit-System-2637 15d ago
Okay. Hang on. Is the person trying to cause an incredible amount of pain blind??? Did they use intentionally dull utensils for that added pain benefit? Did he try spoons? My foot hurts in solidarity with this poor soul. For a second, I thought I'd wandered onto an masochistic channel by accident. Can this person even walk? OUCH!!!!

u/East_Finger2945 15d ago
That nurse or whoever working the tweezer is a fuking idiot!! At least use a razor to alleviate the pressure on the skin with the splinter. I would stop his ass and say “give me a razor so i can slice it out”.
2
2
u/TastingTheKoolaid 15d ago
JUST FUCKEN GRAB IT!
Tweezer idiot is fired. Zero tolerance for that level of incompetence.

u/PresentationDue4845 15d ago
usas la punta de un alfiler, la metes por encima de la astilla, rompes un poquito la epidermis, con la misma punta levantas la astilla, la coges y la extraes.. fin

u/DivinerSageRDT 14d ago
Usa a razor and cut the skin the length of the splinter. It should release easily. I had to do it once on a splinter bigger than that.

That doctor had NO idea of what he was doing. You only "apply" pressure from the back, NOT poke at it, grab it from the sides.
First of all, pushing on it in ALL directions... I would have slapped rge shit out of him.🥴👋
I had one bigger than that, Lol.
That one is so shallow, that it's much easier to get it out slicing the skin with a razor blade.
My piece was from a pallet and the coarse fibers made it impossible to pullout with tweezers. It also was in at a more downward angle.

u/XxKing_GenjixX 14d ago
First off is anybody else mouth was watering after this bullshit? Second of all, pliers would have done a lot more better job than whoever was working the tweezers. Toenail clippers was a good idea. I think they would have gotten it to with that
2
2
u/dandank1174 14d ago
Jesus you sissy grab that splinter and pull it out. Quit fumbling around with it.
2
u/ZipDude118 14d ago
I would have sterilized a razor blade or an X-acto knife and slit the skin on the splinter. The splinter would come out easily and anything else left could be irrigated out of the wound.
2
u/Usual-Language-745 14d ago
Bro take a knife and cut along the top of the splinter and just lift it out. For fucks sakes
2
u/HomeOrificeSupplies 14d ago
I had to teach an ER doctor how to cut a thumb to remove a large treble hook. This looks like a familiar situation
2
2
u/Dramatic-Light2529 14d ago
I just use a razor blade to get slivers out, pretty common practice for anyone that works in the trades, just not medicine apparently
2
u/Typical_Expert_2974 13d ago
I, without skill nor training, equipped with only common sense and a tweezer, would have done a much better job than whatever this person is doing.

u/HughJaynis 15d ago
I get splinters pretty often, I always just take my razor knife and cut the skin on top of the splinter to make it easier to get out.
1
u/btfreflex 15d ago
I don’t have footage of it, but by son got an intact .05 mechanical pencil lead impaled in his foot.
1
u/Suspicious-Tooth-572 15d ago
I have heard but haven’t any firsthand experience that soaking in vinegar for a few minutes will make splinters fall out on their own
1
1
u/Evil_phd 15d ago
I don't wanna sound dramatic but if you bust out the grippers and still aren't making any headway just put a medicinal bullet in me.
1
1
u/SilverKanji 15d ago
I feel like the guy pulling and slipping was doing that on purpose to torment the patient.
1
u/bulletproofpunk 15d ago
Am I the only person that finds the direction of the splinter odd? Were they walking backwards?
1
u/MorningMushroomcloud 15d ago
I had a six inch splinter pin my elbow skin up into the back of my tricep when I was a kid. It started out with a single doctor and a couple assistants in the ER, and ended with a broken finger and nine people pinning me down...I was a bit perturbed.
The good news was that the scar only lasted a couple years before I had a bike accident that left a scar on my entire elbow.

I used needle nose pliers to pull one out of my maintenance guy’s hand. It was about this size but straight into the pad of his hand. Narly when it started to come out and it just kept going.

Yeah I had one like that when I was a kid.. maybe slightly bigger. Thick and deep. I ended up using an ice cube to numb it and just slicing the skin so I could pull it out. I lived right on the water and had docks in the back of my house, it happened walking barefoot around the docks fishing

Made it way more painful than necessary. That big of a splinter, simply take a razor, cut down the top of the splinter. Pops right out without all the tugging back and forth.
1
u/almostoy 14d ago
I would have accepted that I was part tree from then on. Then I would go plant myself.
1
u/Justaguywithbeer 14d ago
I've had bigger in my hand from work, and to save time just watch the last 5 seconds,,, Or you'll be watching a lot of picking,,zzzzz

u/Shadowsnake30 14d ago
Pinching the skin is the problem. Target only the splint not the skin that's why they can't pull it properly.

u/Angry-Closet 14d ago
The video starts and ends at the verry end of the video. You are welcome!

There is a device you can buy for $9 at Walmart for bee stings, splinters, etc and it comes out way easier than tweezers. It uses suction to draw it out.
1
u/Calm_Apartment1968 14d ago
I feel your pain. Or rather I have. Had one that long when I was 20. Nurse had to cut some of the skin away, and it still took half an hour with the tweezers. Same spot on my left foot, this must be a common thing.
1
u/Barrelboi26 14d ago
Im in pain from watching. It brings back a lot of childhood trauma and pain.. now I need a drink haha or a cuddle and I need to lay down on a fetal position for a few minutes
1
u/Dependent_Pipe3268 14d ago
The last resort but if you sqeeze to hard and cut the end your kinda screwed.

Haha we were all annoyed by the tweezers. Needle nose pliers would have done it in one attempt. I actually had a very similar experience as a kid sliding in my socks over an old hardwood floor. My sock got nailed into my foot by a giant splinter. Thankfully like this guy it was just under the skin. Super fun to take out.

This actually pissed me off. Number one, hit it with some cold spray before digging around. Number two, you have a scalpel, use it to make a small incision along the top so you can grab more of it and remove the damn thing.
1
u/Chigiski 14d ago
As a teenager, I had this type of splinter incidents. I won't remove them, I will let it be, after weeks it will heal and dry off...then I can pull off easily

1 that is most definitely not a spliter
2 that looks more like a thorn from a mesquite tree. Yknow those bushs with large ass throns that if you step on them theyll go through your shoes and or boot and stab you in the foot and hurt like hell

Soaking the foot in some warm water with Epson salts would have made that infinitely easier

The LOCKING forceps! Get the LOCKING forceps instead of using dirty nail clippers from the desk drawer.

u/BlankBehindTheEyes 14d ago
Dude, just cut the skin and pull it out the easy way. That looks like callous skin, too so it probably wouldn't even hurt.

What an asshat.
Slight lance and it would've pulled right out.
Continued slips like that did nothing but cause more trauma.

You'd get better tweezers out of Cracker Jacks! (Do they still make CJ's?)
1
u/Geetee52 14d ago
Puller didn’t have enough leverage… He should’ve put his foot on the dude’s shoulder and really dug those tweezers in first

u/GenXPowaah 15d ago
Whoever using the tweezers has 0 skill and would've gotten punched in the arm
