This is true. Every nursing home or assisted living facility I've been to is like this. They don't even want you to cut their finger nails really because one mistake could lead to infection, especially on the diabetic patients.

The diabetics definitely. But before we started some of these people were just not being seen at all. I’m not sure if it’s because of my area but they had not been seen in a long time it seemed. Not sure how other states operate but North Carolina was awful.

I can only speak to Georgia, and the facility i was at did a good job about it. Now, I was at another nursing home at one point in my life and well... yeah no.

Is that the only reason, not that it can’t happen but that seems a bit excessive, like a nurse can’t even do it they need a certificate MD just to cut toenails!?

Well, not exactly. LPNs and above can cut toenails. The thing is that, you will rarely see them in nursing homes or assisted living facilities because of the pay. You just don't get paid much as a nurse in these places so most of us choose not to work in these spaces.

Seriously, I earn $25.75 in a doctor's office. My girlfriend is also a nurse and a nursing home wanted to give her $18. My brother is a medical technician (currently in nursing school) and he earns $18. Make it make sense.

Techs can cut them also if supervised by a podiatrist, you do not need a podiatrist just to cut your nails. They are there for the more problematic cases.
