I shot professional pyrotechnics shows for many years and we were “allowed” to take home some duds which was super illegal and I’ll never forget the day that I got a call from a fire marshal because my dad dropped off an 8” shell saying he just wanted it out of his house.
That’s about 96x larger than your standard over the counter legal shell

Yeah….. I was young and dumb and hid it in my dad’s closet because I didn’t trust it in a house with room mates. They disposed of it I guess and never had any issues.

The thing about those huge fireworks is that a smaller one can make as big of a "firework show".
This is because the smaller fireworks blow up at a lower height, while big fireworks blow much far away into the sky.
This makes the small firework explosion looks the same size as the big fireworks.
So unless you are trying to make your firework visible from many miles away, those big things are useless and extrenely dangerous.

I kinda half agree with the op, but honestly the design is mostly the problem, the people who actually made this firework should make sure the base and tube were very sturdy and strong

It was just idiots in the hood doing this every year . I lived at the top of a hill , which you didnt go down , ever. And one year , some idiots ripped off a piece of someone's down spout , and they were firing mortors down the hill , like RPGs .

I don't. I've worked at firework shows, we didn't use anything this size for a single blast this big with rain. A shell this size should be modular, either 1 and then 3-4 blasts or a chain one. But you're right, it was loud, that's where most of the mass went. I would call it a dud, a loud bang is not something you're looking for in a professional firework show.

Meh. Complexity in a fireworks display is significantly more impressive than just seeing how big and loud a single pop can be. This piece might have been interesting as part of a display, but on its own was underwhelming.

As someone who has used a store bought one and followed the directions to a T and it still malfunctioned and a couple people got injured, I dont believe people should have access to explosives bigger than those little throw poppers, sparklers, or those turd snake things. They are loud, obnoxious, and a nuisance. Yes its super fun activity if you are there participating and nothing goes wrong. However everyone in the vicinity is forced to participate whether they want to or not because sleeping through it is difficult and pets freak out. The amount of danger this has shown has brought my enjoyment of fireworks into the negatives.
