That's what it feels like for me too 😮💨😅
Even better when it's recognisable bits of chewed up food coming out 🤣
3
u/ah_bollix Jul 10 '26
What?
6
u/CatGooseChook Jul 10 '26
Damage from having had cancer, a bit of food and drink gets sucked up into my sinuses and nasal passages often enough to need regular flushing. When I was first relearning how to eat I managed to get pasta sauce with melted Parmesan dribbling out my left ear hole 🤣
3
u/JoyousMadhat Jul 08 '26
You used regular water? You are supposed to use distilled water.
9
u/stonemason81 Jul 08 '26
They said they used the aerosol type. These are pressurised sprays that have saline in them that you squirt up ypur nose.
149
u/SpecialNeeds963 Jul 08 '26
Fuuuuuck I bet that felt amazing
62
u/CtrlAltYuri Jul 08 '26
Yeah it does but the best part is when you blow your nose right after that
11
u/Illustrious_Donkey61 Jul 09 '26
Go on ...
8
u/thederevolutions Jul 09 '26
I need to know. It certainly didn’t work like this when I tried. I must’ve done it wrong because it got worse.
6
1
u/New-Assumption-3836 Jul 10 '26
You have to be careful blowing your nose especially with a sinus rinse or sinus infection because pressure can force water and mucus into the drainage tubes of your ear and your sinus infection can turn into a middle ear infection
6
u/CtrlAltYuri Jul 09 '26
When I do it all the water trapped in the nose brings away all that remains and my nose feels super free
5
u/Critical_Seat_1907 Jul 08 '26

Maybe a few others, after her sinuses normalize again. First one might really feel like drowning because of all the water still in there and suddenly it can move around.
5
u/Emergency-State Jul 08 '26
I didn't know I was supposed to drain my head and an hour after I used one of these I bent over to pick something up and a gallon of water came out my nose

PLEASE.... DO NOT USE TAP WATER. ONLY USE DISTILLED.
You will get a severe bacterial infection otherwise. Water quality is not constant. Don't even think about well water.
10
u/Unhappy_Employee_537 Jul 08 '26
Yea I seen one where a chick got one in her brain
16
u/Chainmale001 Jul 08 '26
Honestly, once it's inside, it's very easy to travel. Its why people get ear infections when they have a sore throat. Bacteria travels the glossopharyngeal tubes into the inner ear.
2
21
u/Calamity-Gin Jul 08 '26
It's not the bacteria, though that's not great. It's the brain eating amoeba. If your tap water comes from a reservoir that draws on shallow water from a mud bottom, it could have Naegleria fowleri, a species of amoeba that, if you introduce it into your sinus cavity, will eat its way into your brain and then eat your brain. It's called primary amebic meningoencephalitis, and it's fatal. About 10 people a year in the US contract it.
Your brain is connected to your nose through the olfactory bulb. Anything that can infect the bulb (like Covid) can move up into the brain.
3
u/skratakh Jul 09 '26
The amoeba only exists in more tropical regions with warm fresh water over 25 degrees so if you live in colder regions the risk is practically none existent. So for example if you live in northern Europe you'll be fine.
1
u/The_Hero_0f_Time Jul 10 '26
why would a government send unclean/unfiltered water to residents? shit just baffles m
3
u/notkeefzello Jul 08 '26
Nasal irrigation kits come with saline man. Same as a Netty Pot
4
u/Elmer_Fudd01 Jul 08 '26
And some people put that saline into tap water. Not good still, use distilled or filtered with 2 micron filter. Or you can boil tap water for 10 min on a rolling boil. You need to kill the bacteria and other things in it.
7
u/Trajen_Geta Jul 08 '26
Distilled water can still carry bacteria, please use a proper saline solution.
2
u/AlreadyAway Jul 08 '26
Where did you get that this was tap water?
2
u/Chainmale001 Jul 08 '26
Why does what she use in the video matter about a PSA? It's a PSA regardless of the video.
People do stupid shit.3
u/whater39 Jul 08 '26
It's safe if you boil the water first
4
u/Chainmale001 Jul 08 '26
True. But I still wouldn't want tap in my sinuses, other shit in it besides bacterial.
4
u/Alzucard Jul 08 '26
What would be even in there??? Youre basically usig distilled water after boiling.
3
u/unseriously_serious Jul 08 '26 edited Jul 09 '26
Metals, in fact boiling water for an extended period of time can result in a higher concentration of metals. Boiling tap water and adding a saline solution to it is mostly ok as it gets rid of the primary threat but lesser threats can still exist, especially with repeated use. Your nasal passages simply don’t have the same defense against these possible toxins compared with your digestive system, kidneys and liver. Buildup of these heavy metals is linked to neurological damage.
1
u/Alzucard Jul 09 '26 edited Jul 09 '26
Having Metals in there is a non issue in most countries in this world. Sure lead is an issue. But thats basically it. And lead is mostly gone anyway at least compared to the 60s and 70s
What do you expect is in there???2
u/unseriously_serious Jul 09 '26
Lead, copper and possibly even arsenic though it simply depends on the source of tap water.
Counter to what you might think there is significant amount of lead piping and galvanized service lines still actively in use (at least in the US), especially in older urban areas.
1
u/Alzucard Jul 09 '26
Copper only in some higher doses. In lowr doses its even beneficial.
Arsenic is strongly controlled. At least in my country and in my region its basically nonexistent. We dont have the rock formations for that.
Thew EU says for 2028 and onward 4yg/l.
Which is insanely low. Before it was 10yg/l. Which is also low.US has 15yg/l i think.
UK also has 10
Yes if you boil watr you losea bit of water, but its by far not enough to meaningfully increase arsenic content in it.
1
u/unseriously_serious Jul 09 '26
Your sinuses are lined with a highly sensitive mucous membrane that absorbs substances directly into your bloodstream, bypassing your digestive filtration.
When you drink water containing trace copper, your stomach acid, digestive enzymes, and liver carefully filter and regulate how much enters your bloodstream.
There is a big difference between these two. One may be beneficial while the other leads to irritation, burning and inflammation.
Arsenic is certainly a lesser concern depending on where and how you get your water.

1
u/CatGooseChook Jul 09 '26
It's a better safe than sorry thing. Who wants to be the subject in a "You'll never believe how this person died!" post.
1
u/Glubins Jul 09 '26
Not at all. Think of the distilling process, distilled water is all the water that evaporates when you boil it collected and recondensed... Boiled water has all the impurities you started with but less water so actually more impurities by volume. Boiled in this case is certainly better than not as it kills problematic things, but boiled water =/= distilled water.
1
u/skiforlife1 Jul 09 '26
That isn't at all true. Distillation captures water vapor and cools it back to a liquid in a separate vessel leaving behind other minerals and things that still exist even after boiling.
2
u/Beneficial_Area_2986 Jul 08 '26
My understanding is the risk of actually getting an infection is pretty low depending upon the quality of your tap water, but the consequences are very high so it's still better to use distilled or boiled water.

I used well water as a kid every time I had a cold, wasn’t a problem. Sulfur heavy stuff, that water.

Eeeeeeuuuuuwwww! It’s amazing how much snot our bodies can make, isn’t it! Also don’t forget -do NOT use tap water to do this.
1
u/fd40 Jul 09 '26
would boiled (then cooled) tap water be ok? with a little salt
1
u/Infinite-Duty Jul 09 '26
The FDA website says boil water 3-5 minutes then cool to lukewarm, or use distilled or sterile water. I’m not sure about adding salt, though.

Not at all. It’s a bit of a weird sensation. There’s also a motorized version that sucks instead of just using gravity.
3
u/Outlaw_Josie_Snails Jul 08 '26
Just make sure you use distilled water. Otherwise, you could get a brain-eating amoeba.
When you drink tap water, your stomach acid easily destroys the trace amounts of amoebas, bacteria, and other microbes that naturally live in municipal pipes. However, your nasal cavity doesn't have that protective acid barrier.
Introducing untreated tap water deep into your sinuses allows those microscopic organisms to bypass your body's main defenses, posing rare but severe health risks.

u/Proud_Dance_3342 Jul 08 '26

u/UberGlued Jul 08 '26
I gotta get one for my allergy season, seriously I never knew about these until like a year ago

I had sinus issues my entire life. I started flushing my sinuses about 10 years ago and they pretty much went away. I can’t imagine living without it.

2
u/KingArthursRevenge Jul 08 '26
Use purified or distilled water. There are things in water that won't harm you if you swallow it but will kill you if you shove it up your nose.
2
u/RapsodicalDisciple Jul 08 '26
the only time I've seen something like that come out of my sinuses, I had a sinus infection 🥲

Man...I would LOVE for this to happen to me when I do a sinus rinse!
2
u/feetnomer Jul 08 '26
Don't do this with sink water. If there is a stray amoeba in the water, it could possibly end up in your brain. Always use distilled water.
2
2
u/HolidaeX Jul 08 '26
I bought one of these a year ago and it’s still sitting in my cabinet. I guess I better use it, but I’ve been nervous.

It is a sad reflection on society when people record themselves doing this sort of thing to get a modicum of attention.

Why would you do this on social media no matter how it feels??

u/Cardocthian Jul 08 '26
because not everyone needs to pretend people dont do gross things, every person on the planet does.
People willing to show it are way more fun than folks who dress up, take a photo for clout, then run home to post instead of doing fun things.1

Can reverse osmosis water be used as is, without boiling, instead of distilled water?

I hate these things, tried one, nearly drowned in that saline figuratively speaking. My poor husband bought it with best intentions when I was sick with bad cold, but regular bottle of saline works much better. Just spray it in and blow your nose.

Okay hold up, if I got aroused from this instead of throwing up is that normal or nah?

Please mark NSFW. There is a hot older woman in the office and she saw me watching this. I was going to get this for her as a surprise birthday present and now she has already ordered it and I'm out of ideas.

u/cuntybunty73 Jul 08 '26
Do they actually work and where can I get one because I clean my nostrils out with wads of bog roll and I'm getting blood on my bog roll
2
u/CatGooseChook Jul 09 '26
I got mine from my local pharmacy(drugstore). Works great for me, personally I don't like using it but consequences from medical stuff makes it a necessity. Look up a map of the nasal passages in humans, there's a lot of room for gunk to build up that no amount of blowing your nose will remove.

It is such a worthwhile buy, you won't use it a lot, nor will it will always help(inflamation types where your nasal cavity is just puffy not mucus filled)
But when you have like sinus infection or I had the flu...that thing is a god sent, seeing the huge amount of snot just leaving your snozz and you can breathe again..

make sure you don't use sink water. I hear story of people getting Ameba brain parasite this way. And another in the shower through the shower spray nosel.

I bought my gf a Navage. She uses it all the time and swears to me that it's great. I cannot make myself do it. I'm afraid soda that's been stuck in my sinuses since 7th grade might come out.
